You get what you pay for. These lamps are made of something like plaster of paris - a white chalky material. Both lamps had several chips on them and the harp was so bent on one of them that it could not be used. Fortunately, for me, the old lamp I was replacing had a harp that fit these lamps, and all the chips were on one side of the lamps, which will face the wall. I decided to keep them since it took me three years to find the color (light sage green) and design that I wanted and they match everything in our bedroom so well. Most shoppers would return these without even trying them out.
