I have an old aluminum shovel with a long handle that suits me very well after snow storms. The smaller head and lighter material means that I don't attempt to lift large amounts of snow (I am a 5'4" woman in her 50s). The long handle means I don't have to bend over. I could not find a similar shovel at any local stores. On the Internet these shovels were priced similarly to others and if I bought two I was able to take advantage of the free shipping.
I left one at my folk's house and gave the other to my daughters. Now there will always be an nice light tool to use at whichever house I happen to be.
These shovels don't have the slightly flared shape that mine does but I was willing to try them anyway as I didn't see any others that do.
