So, realistic is the good news and the bad news. I sent this to my mother, but I was not home when it arrived. My son unboxed the plant and brought it to her. He didn't say much except that it was from me for Mother's Day. She loved it, and later that night, upon deciding the soil felt a little dry, proceeded to water it! It took much less water than she anticipated, and leaked over the cable box (which she set it on, being a high spot in the room.) She then called my son because the cable box stopped working.
I'm not sure about the silk and polyester content -- the flowers feel almost moist and rubbery -- I would guess some sort of silicone and plastic, and even the soil/moss seems more organic than it should. It is now a week later and the "moss" is still wet. I got home from my trip today and pulled all of it out of the container, and it took several paper towels to blot the stuff dry. There are even "roots" underneath the soil/moss stuff. Beware!!
