A friend of mine had one of these. When I felt how smooth and clean it cut, this became my next purchase. I bought this one and I find every excuse to use it in the kitchen. Funny thing, whenever I clean the blade, I end up slicing apart parts of the sponge. Wash by hand and dry, but be careful to not slice through and into your hand. Something to note: DON'T use a glass or vinyl cutting board. It will dull the blade as it warns in the blade care guide. I went out and spent a few bucks for a couple of new bamboo cutting boards. A well built blade.
I knew this was a sharp knife, but I had went to use my old non-shun knife a while back and actually had to use force to cut through something the shun just slides through. I've been using this for about a month now and I can't imagine going back to normal knives. I'll be looking at replacing more of my other types of knives with Shun Classics. Did I mention it is also beautiful? Always trying to show it off.
Best chef knife ever had. Great balance and handle. Down side is only designed for right handed. (Handle rib) Requires high maintanance but top performer in my kitchen. Highly recommend.
Wow great quality. I am a big Shun fan.
I'd never tried a Japanese knife, now I'll never go back! It has replaced my Henckel, Global and Wusthof knives. Razor sharp and handle feels great. Love it.
I love this knife! Cuts everything like cutting through melted butter
