Anita Solid Pine Bookcase with Optional Glass and Wood Doors

This shelf was purchased for my daughter's room Apr 2017. We ordered the white painted pine, with no optional doors. It was an ideal shelf for near her bunk bed as it was tall enough to reach from the top bunk as well. It was relatively easy to put together, but did require both my husband and I to complete the project. One of the top trim pieces was slightly damaged, but we worked with the customer service group to address this issue. UPDATE: Three years later, we did a room makeover for my daughter and removed her top bunk. We attempted to move the shelf unit using moving sliders underneath it. We noticed that the shelf was very wobbly and leaned somewhat with the shelves full. We had to empty the shelves completely to safely move it. It works well, looks great, is light, and I love that it is all real wood, even the back panel. Just wish it was a bit more sturdy.

I give this a 4 because it took a LONG time to put together. I love that it is solid pine and not MDF. This makes me happy because I believe in more natural products that have less chemicals used in/on them. I think it helps the health of my house (environment). There was wood to add to the bottom to be like an elevated base but we left that out. The size was perfect for my small kitchen and holds a LOT

The doors. I would recommend this product to friends.

Ordered this item and received the wrong color. This happened several times. I don't think it was a customer service issue. Overstock did everything possible to correct the issue. I think it was a problem with the manufacturer / item. We returned it since we couldn't get the color we wanted.

These were a bit tricky to assemble but I got better by the third one. Looks great and holds lots of books w/o shelf bending

For the price, this is done fairly well. With its height, care is needed for weight distribution. It's not going to be an heirloom piece by any means, but it's​ a great value & the wood back makes it look like a better quality bookshelf than it really is.

This bookcase is very nice and sturdy. I like it because it is much taller than most other bookcases, I was a little disappointed in the color because I expected it to be painted white but it is more like a whitewash, you can see the wood thru the color. But I would still recommend the product.

waiting on parts but looking at the wood it looks very nice can't wait to put together it so tall as well. the back of it has a lot of panels that slide into each other and then you nail the sides in At least its all wood I wishds the side panels where a little more thicker . I bought to put my fabric in for my sewing room it should work out great

We purchased this for our twin girls room and it is a beautiful piece for the price. Did not take long to assemble and looks much more expensive than what we paid. Head and shoulders above the cheaper, flimsier shelving units found on this site and elsewhere. Love the color and size, fits perfect in the room. Very happy!

These are nice cabinets. I purchased 2 of them and they are exactly what I was looking for. The reason there weren't a 5 start from me is the assembly. There are a lot of pieces to put together and the cabinet doors were a challenge to get right. Overall for the price, I would order again.

We ordered the pine bookshelf with no doors. Be careful when ordering that you don't order doors instead of the actual shelf. The printed instructions stated it would take 2 people 10 hours to assemble. My husband almost fell over when he read that, but it took him maybe 5 hours to assemble by himself, split between 2 days. We wanted real wood though, so felt it was worth the time. Each wooden board is separate, including all the boards that make up the back of the case and there's lots of nailing involved. Our box, like others complained of, arrived with a big taped hole in it. I'm assuming this is UPS's doing, but who knows that they're not arriving in the country like this and being given to UPS already taped with holes. Fortunately all the parts were there. The reason I'm giving this 3 stars (because we knew it would require lots of assembly before we purchased) is because the wood is not as sturdy as I expected. Another reviewer claims this is a heavy, solid piece but I think the pieces making up the bones of the piece and the shelves should be a little thicker. When you knock on them, they have that hollow sound. I'm doubtful I can load this whole thing up with books, which was my original intention. Also we left off the bottom "stand" pieces because we were sure the whole thing would tip over if balanced on three tiny little pieces of wood. We didn't add the bottom doors though, so if adding lower doors, you may need this little "stand" to elevate the case enough to swing doors open and closed. If you're looking for a lightweight case that's natural (and beautiful- this is a beautiful piece) then I recommend it. If you're looking for a substantial bookcase to hold thousands of pounds of books, I'd buy something else.

It comes in a thousand pieces , the off white is not white at all. I want to return it im to lazy to put the million pieces back in the box grrrrr!

The white was not white it was a milky oil based paint that was terrible and hard to paint

I have to say that I was about to print the label to return this item, when we decided to continue to put it together. When we were done, we looked at it and we loved it, so we ordered 2 more!! That said, the instructions to put this together are atrociously complicated for someone that is not used to put IKEA furniture together! I was very surprised that this company, which is also Scandinavian, did not make a good job with the instructions!! So if you want to have it, you really need to be patient. In our opinion it was worthy!!!

thanks to the stupid chat bots I managed to order 2 sets of FINISHED PARTICLE BOARD cabinet doors for which I have no bookcases. Move along

I ordered 3 bookcases. All with the bottom solid doors, and 1 with the additional glass doors. Yes, one of the pine boards was split, but it was an easy fix with glue and a clamp. The doors are sometimes a trick to get to shut all of the way, but dinking with them = success. YES, it's whitewashed, YES you can see the pine wood grain and knots through the whitewash. It really is more of a 'vanilla' slightly creamy color than 'white'. It is ALL wood: which means I could get a similar board, whitewash it and add more shelves (yay!). I added 1 shelf more to each of the 3 bookcases. I could drill more holes and add more shelves if I wanted.... all wood makes these additions possible.

After being delivered to an address in another State, it finally arrived at my home (2 weeks late) in beat up box. This after multiple online "chats" trying to sort out the situation. Upon opening the box I found a key piece broken. See attached. Now I'm stuck with a big broken unit and a box that is unusable for return. Forgot to mention that there were no doors included either.
