    One side is tacky like a thin coating of rubber. It does stick to the hardwood floor. The top side is coarse and hard, so I imagine it would grab onto the backing of a rug. It is 1/4 - 3/8" thick. Too stiff to give any cushiony feel.It is mishapen from being shipped folded up into a large (heavy too( rectangle. It has not flattened out over several days. The think (kelim) that I was going to use over it does not have enough weight to flatten the creases and bulges.I imagine that it would keep a rug from moving on hardwood because of the way it sticks but I am going to roll it up and donate it to Restore.
