This was a great purchase and if it hadn't been for the many valuable reviews I may have missed out. I'm an interior designer and I know how hard it is to buy online, especially a purchase as large as this. So here are a few Q&As that might help you feel confident with your purchase. Q: Does it look cheap? A: Not at all. It definitely has a nice high-end look. In fact, it looks as if it came from C&B or PB. Q: Is this a good quality rug? A: YES! It is very well made. The backing is completely hidden, due to the ample amount of strands. Q: What is the texture like? A: It's a mix of both thin & medium 1.5 inch stands. Soft and very plush. Q: Is the color a true ivory? A: It was a tad bit darker than I expected. To me it's more of a light cream than an ivory, but it works. Q: What is the backing like? A: It's a quality non-skid backing. Q: What are the sides like? A: Each side is wrapped in a matching tightly woven thread and hidden under the overlap of rug strands. Q: Does it hold it's shape? A: Yes. I fluffed it straight out of the package and have walked/sat/laid on it and it still looks pretty good. Q: Does it clean easily? A: Too new to tell, but if you maintain it properly each week, it should last you a very long time. I hope these Q&As have helped. I purchased this rug for myself, but will definitely keep it in mind for a future design job. Best of luck and Happy Shopping!
It took me a long time to decide which white shag rug to buy, as between Safavieh and Nuloom there are about a million. What sold me on this one was the picture of a hand sinking down into the super plush fabric- and the fact that it had the highest pile out of all the white shags those two brands had to offer. I bought the runner for my gallery hallway in my bedroom, which at *** at the time was an absolute steal. I only wish I had a full room that would work with white shag! (My bedroom certainly would, but I had already gone with Nuloom's grey and aqua lace Adileh rug in 8x10 (which while sadly has not nearly as much aqua as the photos show, is still unbelievably gorgeous), which goes wonderfully with this runner. I was really nervous when I received the rug and took off one of the cardboard end-caps and got a glimpse of the edge of the rug- it looked like it had sparse, ultra spindly fibers sticking out in every direction, everything I had feared when ordering and dangerously close to how I had always pictured shag carpet until seeing it everywhere when rug shopping- a terribly sparse/matted 70s nightmare. The product photos had led me to believe that shag could be luxurious, even glamorous, and at that moment I thought they had LIED. As I pulled off more tape and pushed down more of the plastic, I became able to peel back a corner of the rolled rug- and to my astonishment revealed the most dense, plush, and yes, glamorous pile! I was so relieved, and so excited to get the rest of the packaging off and lay it out (which will take you a little while-they pack these things WELL). Once I had it all out, I could see that the slightly sparse edges were barely (if at all) noticeable, as they very quickly give way to this gorgeous dense pile that you can sink your hand (and feet!) into. There is this amazingly subtle slight sheen to the fiber that is in no way shiny or slippery (which is what deterred me from choosing the Safavieh Paris rug- that and the fact that it was more of a beige than a white or cream)- it's just this slight luster that makes the whole rug look luxe and rich and almost creamy, like much more expensive materials were used. This rug is seriously amazing, you guys. Unless you are trying to match this rug to a stark white (or stark white with say black or red), modern decor, I really can't see how you would be disappointed. My bedroom is white, aqua and silver, and this goes perfectly with it- though I have a sort of "beachy glam" thing going on, so all of my whites are of varying natural shades anyway. I have bought three Safavieh products for my new apartment, and I can tell you that each one of them just radiates quality and attention to detail. One of the items I bought was one of their handmade wool rugs, and I can tell you that this machine-made, non natural fiber, less expensive rug is given the same amount of care and commitment to quality as their more expensive lines. I'm so happy with this purchase. I have not cleaned the rug yet, so I can't attest to how easy it is to get dirt and debris out of the pile, but I imagine it will take more work than a low pile rug- but you kind of sign up for that when you go with shag. I will try to come back and update in a few months on durability, ability to stay white and ease of cleaning. The one thing I'm not 100% happy with is the length! It is only seven feet long, and I would have happily paid another *** to get it a foot longer. It's just a tad too short for the part of my hallway I'm using it in (I'm not using a rug in the first part of my hallway because I don't want the pile to interfere with the door to my room or the one to my walk in closet). Seriously, if you're on the fence about shag, get this rug.
SAFAVIEH California Shag Izat 2-inch Thick Area Rug is beautiful, fast shipping.
I was so impressed by this rug, I've just purchased my third one (for three different rooms). The rug is what I would call completely neutral. I didn't want one too tan or beige and it's not - I have it in my all gray living room and it works great, my baby blue baby's room, and my khaki bedroom. I have purchased other "shag" rugs in the past and was worried about all the shedding but I've vacuumed this one many times and it is on a dark hardwood floor and there is NO SHEDDING! Nothing even in my Dyson. It is soft and feels nice on your feet and is very modern looking. The other thing that amazed me is that we are slobs that eat in front of the tv a lot and this rug simply does not show dirt. It just doesn't. I don't know how and I don't care, it's fabulous. I very rarely write reviews but this rug is exactly what I was looking for and I am still very impressed (again, I bought it three times...)
3 stars. because its a 5 star product with a 1 star color accuracy. Let me explain it to you. So this was a great product per se, but I ordered white and the carpet is not white. I'm a man, so for me white is white. If I say I want white, give me white. The design in my room is black, red, and white. I put this carpet on my floor and it looked dirty. Not to say that it is dirty, but to make a point that it is NOT WHITE. The females in the house were talking about it being bone white or even ivory. I don't know what the hell those colors are but it is not white. Compared to the decor in my room, this was clearly not white. Other than that, its a great carpet. Feels great.
loving these Safavieh shag rugs -- great quality. no shedding
wonderfully thick and beautiful color on Safavieh California Cozy Solid Beige Shag Rug
Safavieh California Shag Izat Two inch Thick Area Rug. Bought 8 X 10. Nice rug and reasonably priced.
The Safavieh California Cozy Plush Silver Shag Area Rug is sooooooo soft. The plush carpet adds a dimension to our living room. We love the comments from our friends and family - they all love the area and they all compliment us on how the rug changed the look in our home.
I almost never write reviews. By contrast, I usually spend hours and hours reading up on anything I want to purchase before making a decision. The decision to purchase this carpet was a particularly agonizing one. We had just purchased a new house, and I was looking for a very large carpet to cover the living room. I found one that I loved in a well-known home/decor store, but it was about 5x the price! I hadn't even considered buying online, but came across a review for this carpet while researching the other one. Another customer was praising it for being just as good, if not better. I knew that purchasing this carpet was a risk, also because I am out of country, and would likely lose out on border fees if I had to return. I'm so glad I went for it! The carpet is gorgeous, and everything I had hoped for. Yes, as others have mentioned, the carpet fibres are not uniform in colour. The lighter/thinner ones are an ivory/cream, and the darker/thicker ones are more of a warm beige. However, the overall effect from a distance is of a uniform colour that is very similar to the one pictured. I wanted a very neutral rug to pull the room together, and definitely did not want any kind of pattern, stripe, etc. This carpet delivered on exactly what I wanted, and the multi-toned fibres really just make it look more rich in texture. My other major trepidation was due to the fact that I own a huge, black Newfoundland dog, and three light-coloured long haired Persian/Himalayan cats! You can only imagine the amount of hair that they can leave around the house. I've only ever had short-pile carpets before, and wasn't sure how this carpet would be for keeping clean. I have to say, it's actually been the easiest carpet to maintain of any I have had. First, it's better than any carpet I have had at hiding pet hair in between vacuuming. With any other carpet, I can vacuum, and then have it look covered in hair 15 minutes later. I think due to the long pile and varying tones, it is a lot more forgiving. Second, it has been surprisingly easy to vacuum. I don't use my beater bar, but rather use the regular bristle floor attachment, and it works great at picking up any hair. The only setback is the fact that it is so plush, that my dog has confused it a few times with grass! Thankfully, again, stains were shockingly easy to remove, and the carpet looks as good as new. I have never before owned a carpet where people come over, and immediately compliment it, want to touch it, lie down on it, etc. This carpet is it! If it ever wears out or gets ruined, I won't hesitate to buy another one. After all, I could go through five of them before paying the price I was originally going to pay for a comparable product!
I"m not kidding when I say I have been diligently searching for a rug for 2 years! I had decided in the end that I wanted to go with a shag for our living room but everywhere I looked (and I looked EVERYwhere!) if they were good quality, they were $XXX.XX dollars, if the were affordable, they were crap. I finally found this rug online and felt it was going to be too good to be true. I started at the screen for an hour trying to decide between mushroom, ivory, beige, or taupe. I clicked on taupe and couldn't be more pleased! It's a very gray shaded medium brown color. Simply stunning in my rustic home where I use lots of natural colors that are more on the cool end of the color spectrum. This rug is very plush, thick, and soft. My dog has made it his new bed (much to my demise). I would recommend this to anyone! I can't tell you how happy I am. Also I did not notice any odor from the rug after rolling it out. Had friends over the night after we got it and they didn't notice a smell either. I'm thinking of buying another one in a different color for our loft. Simply wonderful and Affordable!
I was looking for an area rug for my formal living room. I wanted a shag style to add some texture and character to the room. I also wanted a solid, neutral color that would go with the room. This rug was exactly what I needed. The shag material is very substantial and seems durable enough to hold up for a while. It vacuums well and does not shed. The color is as advertised, but a little better because it has small flecks of gray and black to make it appear more textured. I would highly recommend this rug for any living room or family room.
First off, let me say that this is the third shag rug we purchased for our living room. The first one was purchased from another online retailer, and it was a nightmare. It shed everywhere, to a degree which I have never seen and hope to never see again. And I've had wool rugs from the retailer whose name is similar to Ceramic Ranch, so I'm familiar with normal heavy shedding. This was so far beyond that. The second was from a big box home improvement store whose primary store color is orange, and it was hard and unforgiving. THIS rug, on the other hand, doesn't shed at all, which is great. We've never used it without a thick rig pad underneath, so I can't speak to its comfiness level without said pad, but with it, it's great. Squishy and soft and wonderful. And it looks great. I have twins, who are now toddlers, so this rug has seen its share of disgusting spills and liquids and solids and semi-solids (if you get my drift), and it's held up wonderfully. I can't tell you how many times it's been thrown up on, and you'd never be able to find a stain, per se. But that's because we've obsessively cleaned it by hand every time that's happened. You cannot steam clean it with a traditional home steam cleaner--the pile is too high, so the machine is unable to pull any of the water you pump into it back out. We learned that the hard way. And our vacuum (Dyson ball, Animal, I think) hates it. It has a self-adjusting head, and I don't think it was designed with shag carpeting in mind. We vacuum it for, literally, twenty to thirty minutes, and fill the canister halfway with dust and Cheerios and whatnot, and you can still get on your hands and knees and find little pieces of cereal stuck in the carpeting pile. BUT no one can see them... so in that way, it's been nice. Admittedly, with two kids under the age of two, I will sometimes take "looks clean" over "actually IS clean." But no more. My allergies are driving me nuts, as are my husband's. We're having a special filtration system installed on our HVAC unit. And it's time to get rid of all the soft surfaces in the house which cannt be easily and completely cleaned. Which includes this rug. I will be sad to see it go in a lot of way. It's basically indestructible. One of my kids poured fruit punch on it--like, RED fruit punch, and I'm sure that, despite my best efforts, I didn't get it all out. But I can't see it anymore. And before they were crawling, and while they were crawling, and while they were learning to talk, it was a nice, soft place to land. But it's time for it to go bye-bye. If, however, I ever have to have another shag rug, I will look for one from this manufacturer. I may just get one with a tad shorter pile, or find a new vacuum.
I bought 2 Safavieh California Shag Izat Solid Rugs and I love them. THey are soft, rich color and great quality. Will recommend to my friends.

I love the Safavieh California Cozy Plush Navy Shag Rug-4' x 6'. I ordered it for a 3rd guest bedroom to give the room a little "POP". The rug went perfectly with the décor we already had in this room. I would definitely recommend this rug as well as greatofferstock.com to all my friends and family.
I Love the Safavieh California Shag Izat Solid Rug. It's a cream color white which really brightens up the room. It keeps clean being that it's a square area rug without a lot of traffic in my living room. I must say that I am glad that I bought this rug for a reasonable price.
