I recently bought several storage cabinets for my basement, and I just got this one for my kitchen. I wish, wish, wish I had bought this brand for my basement. Yes, this is made of laminate particle board, but it has some nice touches that are usually missing in inexpensive cabinets. First, the door is rounded wood (?) rather than just more laminate particle board. That means that it looks nicer and that there are no edge pieces to peel off later. Second, the back board (back of the cabinet) is actually MDF or something, not the cheap paperboard that you usually get. No, it's not wood, but that's a heckuva lot better than flimsy paperboard. The MDF (or whatever it is) makes the cabinet sturdier and more likely to survive a move. Also, the whole thing was a breeze to put together. I am so pleased with it that I just ordered another and will seek out this brand if I ever need another storage cabinet (which, given how cheaply made the other ones I just bought are... we'll see).
As I rebuild my house after Superstorm Sandy, I find I have less storage space than before. I needed a "pantry" type of cabinet that would fit in a narrow space by the door, and this matched the measurements. However, I didn't intend to use it for mops and brooms, and I wanted two more internal shelves. I phoned Prepac and asked if I could buy some, and at first I was told it would be expensive to ship them, because MDF is so heavy. I said I'd be willing to pay, and the helpful young woman on the phone put me on hold to go find out the cost. When she came back on the line, she said they'd just ship me two shelves, plus the relevant hardware, for free! That's a very rare attitude, and a wonderful surprise! It wasn't hard to put it together - pretty standard construction for this type of furniture. And now I have a place to keep canned goods, bulk foods like rice, and spare paper towels.
I purchased this 16-inch Prepac cabinet, along with several 32-inch Prepac cabinets for my garage (See photo). A good value for the price as they are very sturdy, easy-to-assemble and install cabinets. They come with good directions, and all installation hardware including good quality, attractive handles. Although the cabinet height is only 5.5 ft. tall, they are perfect for a short female like me. My cabinets had to be stalled on a platform that is 6 inches above the garage floor due to concrete that extends out from my foundation. Even so, I can easily reach all shelves, as well as above the cabinets with a small stool. I will be purchasing another Prepac 16-inch cabinet for a different location in my home.
My issue was more with the UPS delivery. The product walls were slightly warped and one wall had an imperfection that hides well where I put the cabinet. I believe these problems occurred when UPS took 4 tries to deliver the item in rainy weather...to wrong addresses twice or 3 times...and banged the heavy package (78#) and most likely got it wet. The packing was good or there would have been more damage from the looks of the box. The assembly was fast and easy. I decided to keep it in spite of the imperfections because it's to store brooms and you don't really notice the issues once it is assembled. The cabinet looks good and is just the right size for the space and use.
We chose this for a laundry area in a flip house... wanted modern style but didn't want to spend a ton in that room. With the cabinets over the W/D, this narrow, tall cabinet for brooms made the room look "finished" and sharp.
This cabinet was just what I was looking for. Using it with only one shelf since I wanted it for brooms and mops not for storing clothing. The sizing was correct. The cabinet is quite heavy therefore either assemble it where you plan to use it or get some help to place it.
My Grandson put this together and had no issues - all parts were packed. This is a 100 pound cabinet so put it together near where it will go if you can. It is very sturdy, Design is totally plain on front panel so just the handle that opens from right to left is on front panel. It has a bottom shelf, middle shelf and top shelf and they are VERY roomy. I am using it as an extra pantry. Can remove shelves if you just want to fit Brooms, swiffers , mops etc, I do recommend this purchase.
This is perfect for what I needed. I use it to contain my canister vacuum, cleaning supplies, and a mop. I like that the shelves are adjustable, so I could fit everything just the way I wanted. I like that this is a shallow cabinet and doesn't take up much room. It fits perfectly next to my basement stairs. The quality is about the same as any prefab furniture, but the door is heavy and the rounded edge with the nice metal handle elevate it a little so it doesn't look like crap.
Very easy to assemble! Works perfectly for a linen cabinet! Adjustable shelves can be moved easily!
Assembly was quick, use of strong, long screws holds all together. Back of storage is fairly sturdy and held in by nails, rather than the cheap stuff using tacks. Door hinges very strong, slight downward horizontal sag from hinge side, but barely noticeable. Fits in the corner of our kitchen eat-in area and out of sight. Used not for the shelves, but for long handled items like swiffers and such. Door has rounded corners, nothing else. Would have been nice to have some design in the door, but at this price, ...satisfied with it.
I bought this and the 32 inch cabinet in black both of which are about 16inches deep for our mudroom. Assembly was easy and we installed it stacked on top of each other (32inch on top of the narrow cabinet). I was able to fit a small vacuum and still added the two shelves above the vacuum.
Perfect space saver! Shelves inside can be moved/adjusted easily.
great cabinet. easy assembly. hardest part is leveling the doors.
I ordered this cabinet because I never had a place to stash my brooms, dust mops, cleaning mop, etc. This fits the bill perfectly. Just tall enough to fit in those tall handles. I left off the shelf because I did not need it. The cabinet tucks descretely in the corner of my kitchen and looks great. Thank goodness I saw this and immediately ordered it. Thank you for a great product.
Good cabinet! Easy to setup. The hinges are smooth, and this fits perfectly in the space we ordered it for. It's exactly what we needed for the small space we had.
This cabinet is excellent quality and just the perfect size to fit in a tight space, yet provide lots of room for storage. The hardware is sturdy and the laminate surface will be a good protection from scratches. Pleased with this purchase.
I put this together by myself even though I am a 5' tall 59 yr old female. The weight almost stopped me from ordering it, even though I was already familiar with the quality because I already had 2 of the matching wall cabinets. Once I figured out the best way to open the box, it was easy. If you open the long side where the packing tape is,(and not one of the ends) it is easy to get the pieces out. I used a drill with a phillips bit and all the pieces went together very easily and it looks nice in the laundry room!
Purchased as an end piece to series of wall cabinets in Laundry room. Easy to assemble. Adjustable shelves make it a very useful cabinet. Sturdy enough to allow for storage of cleaning supplies and tools.
To get to our finished basement living space the stairs first lead down into our open area laundry/storage space. These cabinets are the perfect modular solution To our storage needs while not looking like you’ve just walked into a garage. They’re not overly fancy but they’re nice looking and since we have kids and animals and regular chaos I opted for something I wouldn’t mind taking a little wear and tear. This is a high value product for a great price. This is two of four pieces from this collection that we purchased to complete our storage space solution. Highly recommend!
This is a very strong cabinet. Building instructions were relatively straightforward but best if done with 2 people. This cabinet has given me a good amount of storage for kitchen towels and detergents, etc. One dissappointment was that while it came with 2 adjustable shelves, if you put brooms inside, there were no holes for the shelves above the broom height. So my broom is outside the cabinet and I am storing the bottoms of all my tall stick items in a pail on the bottom and the sticks outside. If you use this as a cabinet with shelves, you might want another shelf.
