To anyone who doesn't know what a "bed-in-a-box" is.....it can be quite a shock! I truly didn't realize it was going to come in a 4' x 2' box. I was extremely skeptical, but read some reviews online and decided not to send it back. I unpacked it, unfolded it, and as soon as I broke the vacuum seal, I HAD A KING SIZE BED! The pillow top never really puffed up as much as I thought it would, but the bed is SO comfortable. My husband and I cannot stop talking about it. Best night's sleep either of us have had in so long. Firm, yet "cushy." A good deal, a unique concept, and a really, really comfortable bed.
My husband could no longer sleep on our waterbed, because it was hurting his back. So it was time to move out of the 1970's and buy a new mattress. We found this inner-spring pillow top at Great Offer Stock at a great price with $1 shipping and used our 20% discount coupon, crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. When the package arrived, I though this can't possibly be our mattress. The box is about 2 x 2' and 4' high. We unpacked the mattress and put it in the waterbed frame to take off the final layer of wrapping. The instructions state it takes 4 to 6 hours to inflate. It has to be a mistake; it is like 4 to 6 minutes. The mattress filled our waterbed frame and is nice and firm. For the first few days we did not wake up until 9:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.; our normal rise and shine is 6 a.m. without the need for an alarm. I guess it just shows how tired we really were after all these years. This mattress is a comfortable rest hands down. However, I can see where if you put it on a bad frame it might get out of shape or lumpy as one woman complain. Personally I don't see that happening, because the mattress is supported on all four sides. The mattress is well built and I expect to get many years of restful sleep. Plus it is nice to have my husband by my side, because he had temporarily moved to the couch due to his back. The sheets from the waterbed fit perfectly as well. The majority of the buyers will not be disappointed in this mattress.
I was skeptical about this mattress because it comes in a box and because it was so inexpensive...but after reading other peoples' reviews, I decided to go for it. I'm glad I did! Wow, this mattress was SO easy to assemble. It came in a large box (the rollers on my box had broken, but the mattress wasn't affected at all). My husband and I opened it in the bedroom and unrolled the mattress, which was vaccuum-packed. They must flatten the mattress somehow, which is fine because it's a spring-mattress. They suck all the air out while it's flattened and fold, then roll up the mattress and put it in the box. Anyway, so we unrolled it on the bed and I cut open the vaccuum-packed plastic covering the mattress, and it was so much fun to watch it come to life! As the air rushed in, it puffed up to it's intended form, as a pillow-top king-size mattress. You're supposed to let it sit for 4 to 6 hours to get completely back to it's intended form, but it puffs up so fast (because of the springs) you can at least try it out for a few minutes and feel the amazing comfort! I was shocked that this mattress is so comfortable! It's perfect. The pillow-top is soft and comfortable, but the mattress itself is well-made and supportive. I'm so glad that we bought this mattress! I highly recommend it.
This mattress is all that it claims to be in the description. It arrived quickly, was easy to get upstairs to our bedroom, and the instructions were easy to follow. We did as directed and the mattress began to take shape. It was actually a pretty cool show! Once it had finished growing we placed it on top of our existing box spring. It fit perfectly. We did not need to use the old box spring, but we like our bed to be high off of the floor and setting this new mattress right onto the metal bed frame would have had us sleeping closer to the floor. We both laid on the mattress which was very comfortable, and the attached pillow top was nice and soft. We have not slept directly on this mattress yet because we laid a memory foam topper over it and then covered the topper with the "IsoCool" mattress protector sheet. ( because memory foam holds body heat and can get hot and uncomfotable) In the upcoming summer months we may need to remove the memory foam topper and sleep directly on the mattress. I'm sure we will like it because it appears to be a quality mattress.
I was skeptical buying this mattress because (1) it came folded in a box, and (2) the low price. But my husband and I agreed that we did not want to pay high dollar again for a plush mattress set that created craters where we each slept. This mattress arrived in less than 2 weeks. The box had rollers, so transporting it to the bedroom was no problem. Set up was easy. We found a 14-inch high bedframe suitable for memory foam mattresses, so we did not need a boxspring. We topped it with a 2 1/2-inch memory foam topper. So for less than $500, we have a wonderful, comfortable king-size bed. No more backaches, and we sleep so much better. When the topper gets worn out, we'll just replace it and won't have to buy a whole new mattress again! Thanks, Overstock!
I bought this mattress about 2-3 years ago and I now regret my purchase. When we first received the mattress in a box we surprised like everyone else that is was shipped in this box with wheels and upon cutting the plastic seal it became a king size mattress. The first few months sleeping on this mattress was great, it was a little soft but was much better than our previous mattress. Fast forward 2-3 years and this mattress is way too soft, lumpy and has a big crater in the middle. It is so uncomfortable, we toss and turn at night and have back pain in the morning (which I never had a problem with before and blame it on the mattress). I would not buy this mattress again or recommend it to anyone. Just spend a little extra money on a good quality mattress that does not come in a box, you'll be happy you did!
I thought due to all the positive reviews that this bed would do the trick. We got it home, it was great and unpacked like it should have but there was a crease where the bed was folded up in the middle. It was great to sleep on for the first couple months, but started to sag pretty badly and now, we sink into our sleeping spots and wake up with back pain. The crappy part is we are out $$$ that could have been used towards a better mattress. So I would unfortunately not recommended this product to anyone.
You don't need a box spring and the frame I bought was a frame that can be used as a box spring because of it's shape. Packaging was easy as unpacking and taking it out the plastic covering to let it unroll and fill up with air. It was to size in minutes. On the frame/box spring it is not as cloud soft but better as for those who want soft it is, for those who want firm it is as well. It's perfect and I am in love. For the price, the quality, the ease of comfort and more I will buy every 5 years just cause I can afford it. It You do not need the 50bucks warranty.
We simply could not believe it (and neither could our UPS guys) when this mattress arrived. It was shaped like a duffle about 5' tall and a little bigger around that my arms can stretch. Though a king-size mattress, it was surprisingly easy for two people to carry because of its shape. We set it in place and removed its outer, sausage-like wrapping, which we now use as a laundry bag. The duffle unrolled into a flat mattress only about 3" thick. When we cut the vacuum packaging, the mattress slowly started to expand like an air mattress until it became about 11" thick. We were not only amazed that the mattress looked so normal, with lots of covered coils and a padded top, but that it is marvelously comfortable. If you have ever had to move a king-sized mattress anywhere you will surely appreciate this amazing product. We tell everyone about it. I never want to buy another, unvacuum-packed mattress again. The only tricky part was identifying the padded top before cutting the package. We had it upside down and had to turn it over. Like any king-sized mattress, it was no longer easy to move, so be sure you place it where you want it with the top side up before cutting open the packaging.
Great mattress. Pleasantly surprised. I never new a spring mattress could come in such a small box. The mattress provided a great night's sleep even without a box spring. I am getting a box spring this weekend and I know that it will send the comfort over the top.
I've had this mattress for almost a year. I love it. It has more springs than most mattresses and thus transfers less motion. It should also last longer. I have been very comfortable on this mattress.
I purchased this mattress after reading several review on this and other mattress'. I decided on this mattress based on the reviews and the price. It came in a nice easy to move box with wheels on it. Slightly hard to get out of the fabric sack it came in within the box but other than that very easy to set up correctly. I noticed there was a review that said they couldnt tell which side was up. I saw no reason why you wouldnt have been able to identify the top was more than obviouse it was the side with the "pillow top" on it. The first night it seemed a bit firm but figures thats what we payed for but as the pillow top continued to expand over the first couple days it is now very soft and comfortable. We love it. It does however seem to be larger than our king size box spring more along the size of a Cal, King it hangs over an inch or two on both sides and the foot.
Okay, so I'll admit it...I LOVE this mattress! Thank you to everyone out there in OS land for your reviews - they were extremely helpful in leading me to actually purchase a "mattress-in-a-box" which I had never even fathomed until I read the previous reviews. I've had the mattress about 3 weeks now and I have to tell you that almost every day, I have overslept because I don't want to get out of bed! This mattress is just heavenly and I can't say enough good things about it. I bought the Eastern/Standard king size mattress and the Slumber 1 King Size metal frame all for just over $500. Compared to the Chatam and Wells uber expensive mattress I just tossed out, this new mattress reigns far superior in terms of the actual quality of my sleep and comfort while in bed. I honestly don't want to get up in the morning! If you are thinking about purchasing this mattress and are skeptical like I was because it comes in a box, I have 3 words for you: GET OVER IT! Stop wasting time and just order it! You will NOT be sorry! I'm not and in fact, I will be ordering another one very soon for a guest bedroom. I heart this mattress!
It comes in a huge, very heavy box. Inside is a "duffle bag", and inside that, another one. The bed is rolled up tight inside thick plastic, and you have to be very careful when you cut it open - I used a blunt scissors. You unfold it, plop the whole thing up on your bedframe, and don't touch it for 24 hours. It's weird - as soon as you cut off the plastic, the thing goes "whoof" and starts to expand. I really like it - it sure beats the ancient mattress I'd been sleeping on, and looks and feels like something I could easily spend $XXXX on. My condo has 2 sets of stairs, and it was easier to "roll" this upstairs to my bedroom than it would have been to lug a new kingsize mattress. We aren't supposed to keep our mattresses forever - they're supposed to be changed every 8-10 years. This price makes it do-able, and consumer reports said all the hype about mattresses is just that...and I believe them. I used to sleep on select comfort air mattresses, and they are pricey, and have their disadvantages. I once spent $XXXX on a beautiful mattress that I couldn't sleep on - woke up in major pain. This is ridiculous - and I won't do it anymore. This bed is neither too firm nor too soft, and if I wanted a deep pillowtop I can put that on with any number of mattress covers, feather beds (yikes!), tempurpedic foam topper...it's endless. I don't wake up hurting like I used to, I sleep well, and that's what a mattress is for. Perfect.
This was so much fun we had to videotape when we opened it just in case something funny happened. My sister has the queen size and we loved their mattress so we purchased the King size. It is on the soft side but conforms well to your body. My husband swears by hard mattresses but has slept better on this mattress than any other. When I say soft, you sink at first but then the mattress levels out to where you need the support. I no longer need pillows supporting legs and arms because the mattress was so hard that you hurt because your shoulders and rear were the only thing touching the mattress. I love it and for the price it sure beats the $1000's you can spend on the memory foam versions.
I didn't want to write a review until we had slept on the bed for 2 weeks. Well the past two weeks have been great. The mattress arrives in a compact box with wheels. You just wheel it into your room, pull it our, un-roll it, slit the plastic bag and it begin to inflate like a blow up bed. It's actually very cool. The bed is comfortable since it has springs and memory foam on top. We just love love love it!!!! We put it on top of a platform bed with out a box spring and its great! we bought :12924320 Scandinavia Standard King-size Platform Bed for $249.99 All in all i spend too much time research beds online and sitting on them at xxxxxxxxxxxxx. If I had known I would have bought this be first and saved myself some time..
That a king size mattress can be shipped in a box, is a pretty amazing feat! We unwrapped the mattress, amidst the many layers of packaging and shrink wrapping , and it inflated quickly to 3/4 of it's size, and then over the next couple hours inflates to the full 11 inches. It's a pretty soft mattress, so if I'd tried it out in a store, I probably wouldn't have bought it. Having said that, it does feel comfortable to sleep on, and so far have woken up with no back issues, so hoping it will continue. It certainly is better than the mattress we had, and as this is a vacation home, will be a fine purchase.
When we bought a new bedroom set through O, we needed to get a bigger mattress to fit our new bed. After spending so much on the bedroom set, we wanted something affordable and still comfortable. We didn't need a box spring, so I thought I would give this mattress a shot. Boy, am I glad that I did! It came in a box, with the mattress vacuum-packed and rolled up inside. We opened it up right away, and allowed it to expand for a couple of days before we slept on it. My husband prefers firm beds and I prefer soft, yet we both find this mattress to be quite comfortable.! We have enjoyed sleeping on it for 3 years now.
I was hesitant to buy this bed at first, being unseen and never trying it out. And being shipped in a box??? However, we are very pleased with the purchase. We did let the mattress adjust to it's full size overnight before we actually used it... well worth the one night wait... It is great!!! We did get a very thick mattress pad, so perhaps that helps a bit with our comfort, but I would highly recommend this bed!!! We also purchased a DuraBed King Size steel foldable bed frame, also from greatofferstock.com and were delighted that it assembled without any tools in less than 10 minutes. We expected it to take at least a few hours... We went from a full size bed to a king...and sleep now better than ever... except we both still snore...HaHa
Well, here's my honest opinion. I can't seem to want to leave this bed because it's so comfortable and snuggly and has a bit of a bounce to it. It seems like you're lying on a soft cushiny cloud. I recently returned a foam mattress we purchased at a local wholesale club which was like sleeping on a hard slab and the smell made me ill and didn't discipitate after two weeks. Even our son tried lying on it and said it's so hard. Bye bye to that mattress and hello to this wonderful one. It's been only two days, but it's the best two sleeping days I've had in awhile. It's so ingenious how someone can create a mattress that comes in a box and once opened starts to inflate up and fill out in such a short time. Slept on it the first night. Put a waterproof mattress cover on it to protect it and this mattress has no smell at all like the one we returned. Not to soft or hard. Just in between and just right. Don't even hear noisy springs or feel them. Go for it!
