This is exactly what I needed for my new rug. As usual, I received it sooner than expected. I did have to cut the pad a little bit so nothing was sticking out of the rug but that wasn't a big deal. Would definitely recommend!

Nice rug pad truly non-slip adds some padding and softness as well to the rugs It’s placed under. The size is a little more than 9” x 12 and we actually had to cut around it prior to placing the rug on it

Wonderful rug pad! I'm using this on an antique hardwood floor in my dining room under a woven wool rug. It has given the rug a lot of extra cushion without too much height, which is nice, especially when moving chairs around the table. I've had it a few years now and it's helped to protect the original wood floors. I roll the rugs up once every six months to inspect, clean and polish the floors, and have not had any issues with these rug pads imprinting into the floor's finish (something you always have to worry about, especially with very old wood that can't necessarily be refinished again). Very happy with this, would buy again.

This has worked great for my living room rug. I wanted to add some extra cushion for my daughter when she started crawling. My rug never slips either.

  • Easy to Use Rug Pad, Exactly as Described
    Verified Purchase

These rug pads arrived for me in 3 days, before the rugs I also ordered from Great Offer Stock. I ordered three of the 9 x 12 and they came folded up in a plastic bag as opposed to on a roll. This has its + (saves space and much easier to move around) and - (a little bit of bunching at the creases when you first unfold). The creases came out quickly and not having an extra cardboard roll was also nice. Those with sensitive hands or latex sensitivities may want to handle with a thin pair of gloves as the one side is not completely smooth (designed to grab the rug) and may scratch up your hands a bit. The other side definitely has latex in it. I expected a stronger odor than I found. This had almost no odor when opened, and dissipated quickly. Overall, a sturdy long lasting product. Cutting with scissors or a carpet blade is definitely possible.

This was a great buy for my $. Because a rug pad is something that is hidden- it doesn't matter what it looks like. i just wanted more than the standard waffle rug pad. Now with the supreme, my rug feels very soft and comfy when i walk on it. The rug pad also extends the life of the rug.

Bought this rug pad to use under an indoor/outdoor rug inside a cabin with very heavy traffic. The pad works exactly as described. I wonder if I will be able to clean it, but haven't had it long enough to know. It made our thin rug feel like carpet. I definitely recommend this rug pad for anyone looking to buy one.

This is a very nice, thick rug pad. My rug is backordered until next month so I haven't been able to test it totally, but I'm sure it will be fine. The pad lays nice and flat and is sized perfectly for under my 9x12 rug...it should be a little smaller than the rug and it is.

Questions & Answers

  • Q:

"There is a sample rug in one of the pictures that I LOVE. It is a dark teal background. The image looks like abstract birds sitting on a wire. Can I purchase this rug?"

    • A:

      Please see item# 18001965.

  • Q:

"Can this pad be used outdoors?"

    • A:

      No, will absorb water.

    • A:

I don't think so. It would absorb water

    • A:

      No I don't think so.

    • A:

      I would not use outside.

    • A:

No. It would be destroyed in any water.

    • A:

No, it is not made for outdoor. If it gets wet it will stay that way. It is made from shredded fiber pressed into a pad.

    • A:

No, would not be good outdoors. You'd want the rubber/mesh type of pad for outdoors. This one would soak up moisture and never dry.

  • Q:

"Buy larger and then trim to fit. Love the pad."

    • A:

Yes, that would be the best way to insure your carpet is fully supported with the pad. It not only protects your floors but adds life to your rug and keeps it from sliding.

  • Q:

"Rug is 8'6 x 12 Which size should I purchase for best fit ?"

    • A:

I purchased the 9x12 pad for this rug size and it was easy to trim the 6 inches on one side. The shag carpet is so comfortable with this pad.

    • A:

I would get the 9 x 12 and trim it down. That's what I did. Hope this helps!

    • A:

We had the same situation, we choose to trim 6". Fantastic rug pad worth the effort to trim.

    • A:

Depending on whether or not there is furnishings to be place on the rug i.e. sofas, chairs etc, I found that buying slightly smaller worked great. The padded areas underfoot where children play, adults occasionally sit or kneel is what's essential. Depending on the type of rug also influences the sizing. Lighter weight fringed requires a fair overlap for edges, heavier bound edges are fine with just an inch or so. I love, love my rug pads!! So comfortable!

    • A:

8x10 or you will be doing a lot of cutting

  • Q:

"Is this rug pad suitable for hardwood floors? I'm concerned with staining and scratching my hardwood floors."

    • A:

I am using it on hardwood floors, and I haven't had any problems. It does have a rubber/latex back that touches the floor.

    • A:

I have been using this pad on our hardware floors since this past February. I recently had to pull it back to move our Christmas tree into position in one corner of the room. When I did so, I found no visible signs of any adverse effects to my floor. This is a high-quality pad and I will continue to use it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

    • A:

I've had one on my hardwoods for three years. We've had no problems. In fact, i purchased two more because I like them so much. Also, because it has a latex backing that helps it stay down on the hardwoods and because it is heavy-ish, it does not allow dirt to creep underneath and scratch to floors like other pads I've used.

    • A:

I am using it on a hardwood floor and it works fine.

    • A:

I have been using this pad on my hardwood floors for about two months now and I have not had any issues with my wood floors getting scratched. Love the rubber side down as it keeps the rug from moving.

    • A:

I was concerned with that problem and that is why I chose this pad-works great and gives the right "feel" under the carpet. Not to worry and our floor was a water-born finish (a bit softer than others).

    • A:

We purchased these rug pads to use on our hardwood floors. No scratches on the flooring. We roll the rug and pad every week to clean the floor. I wanted the felt rug pads. I was concerned the all latex pads would mark the floors. These really work, rugs don't shift, feel comfortable. I would not know about staining, no small children in our home. We do have two 120 pound dogs, and so far so good.

    • A:

It is dual purpose for hardwoods or carpet. I have it on my hardwood and love it. It has a good cushion for thinner carpeting.

    • A:

I'm using it on my wood flooring and haven't seen any problems. I have it under a large area rug and under 3 accent rugs in high traffic areas. It has a nice non skid bottom.

    • A:

I have had numerous sizes (I purchased 8 of these pads for under all of my rugs) of this rug pad and all are on hard wood. They have been in place for about a year and I have not had any staining or scratching of my oak hardwood floors.

  • Q:

"I also have been warned that pure felt will never react with flooring but that it's hard to know what latex or recycled rubber or recycled latex really are and which will and won't react with a wood floor product. It is also not clear what "felt" means. Felts can range from synthetic to non-synthetic (wool, cotton, etc). The material descriptions often don't clearly describe the material. In this particular case, "100-percent recycled fiber build with rubber/latex" is mentioned in one place and "synthetic fiber" and "contains latex" are mentioned in another place. So it appears that this product has two components: 1) recycled fiber and 2) rubber/latex. What is synthetic fiber and what is the % recycled fiber and % rubber/latex?"

    • A:

I can get to only 3 corners of the pad and there is no tag on those corners. The latex is in contact with the flooring and the felt is in contact with the rug. It has not been down long enough to determine if the floor will react with the rubber/latex material. The rug does not slip. I know what you mean and am sorry that I cannot answer your question more fully.

    • A:

The felt on top is the blue recycled fiber about 1/3 of an inch, the bottom is covered with a paper thin piece of rubber/laytex honeycomb. The rubber feels similiar to those thin white nonslip pads(more vinyl than laytex). It's been on my 1950 oak wood floors that had been freshly waxed(Holloway House"Quick Shine") for two months with heavy use without leaving any impression or residual. The rug stays in place well.

    • A:

My rug pad works, which makes me satisfied. Your question is way too complicated for me. I'm not stupid, just old and trusting.

    • A:

You are right, the product is two components. A felt like material (you see that side in the photos) that has a rubber/latex layer on one side. The rubber/latex layer provides the slip resistance against the floor. I have these under a variety of area rugs on old wood floors for a few months now, and I have not noticed any discoloration of my floors in that time (not a long time, admittedly).

    • A:

No idea. Perhaps consult a flooring specialist.

"Does this rug pad come shipped folded or rolled?"

    • A:

Mine came folded. 12x10. It flattened in no time, required slight trimming but was easy to do. I love it. It added a great sense of luxury underfoot.

    • A:

Mine came rolled. Rolled out without difficulty. Easily trimmed.

    • A:

      I think it was folded.

    • A:

      it arrived rolled

    • A:

      Came folded. Flattened very quickly.

Mine came folded and shipped very quickly! Love it! Underneath my family room rug, makes it nice and soft to walk on.

    • A:

      Mine came folded as well.

  • Q:

"I have engineered hard wood floors, would this pad work well on my floors? (won't stick, stain, etc) I read that natural rubber is better. Is that correct?"

    • A:

This products is perfect for all floors, including engineered hard wood. It is double sided so it will not slip, stick or stain. As for natural rubber, there is no factual evidence that any one pad works better than another so it really comes down to application, brand and preference. However, in my opinion, our double sided pad is significantly better suited to padding the rug as well as preventing it from slipping.

    • A:

These pads are wonderful. I have them over tile floors, but I don't see how the felt would make any marks on any floor, even if you have radiant heat. Thery are heavy, which would prevent sliding. The smallest I have is the 5x8 and it isn't moving. The pads will also make your rug feel more plush and help extend it's life.

  • Q:

"I have a wool rug that is 9' by 12'. The rug has been sent out for cleaning due to severe pet stains. I need to replace the rug pad as well. FAQ's on rug pads advise that the pad should be about an inch smaller than the actual rug. i do not have space to trim it myself. Is this pad actually 9' by 12' or a bit smaller as advised in the FAQ's."

    • A:

The rug pad is approximately 9 feet wide x 12 inches long.
