This is very hard to install. You will need two people. If you want this light flush mounted to the ceiling (as it should be) you will need to buy shorter bolts. Also, the metal piece that holds the light fixture up is too flimsy so it will need to be reinforced by drilling two holes in it and attaching them to the ceiling with toggle bolts or to studs. Use the illustration provided to help you decide where to hang each light and at what height in comparison to the other lights. Leave them in the bubble wrap or rewrap them before installing. Build up your island with the cardboard boxes and packing material to create a place to set the light fixtures while installing, they are very heavy to hold up. Once the light fixture was installed, we decided that some of the pendants hung to low. We were able to leave the light fixture installed, loosen one or two of the bolt caps and reach above to adjust the cord lengths. I only mention this because others said you couldn't do this. While I don't recommend planning on this, it is possible to avoid taking the light down and reinstalling to shorten the cord heights. The bottom of our lowest pendant hangs 32" above our island cooktop. The bottom of the highest pendant hangs 41" above the cooktop.
I think I paid $*** for this light. It very substantial and looks like it cost several hundred dollars. Our island is 72"x40" and this is the perfect size light fixture. I am very happy with it. However, I don't think my husband will let me buy another one, ever!
