As a professional appliance technician for nearly 40 years, this is a Rare find!
No complicated icemaking compartment in the fridge section. The icemaker is placed the freezer where it belongs! Stores nearly 6X's the amount of ice than the in-door ice models.
This fridge is a monster! 34-CFt. make sure you have the room. It's 36"x 36"x 73"!! Had to raise my upper cabinets over 2". It swallowed all the food from my ageing *** 27cft. SxS. The dual door on door storage is great. Because this thing is so tall my 5'-0" wife is unable to reach the back area of the top shelf. It's really not a major problem, I ordered a couple of lazy susans to solve at. You have "tons" of space in both the fridge and freezer. The lack of handles takes some time to get use to. The front panels are curved glass. It looks like the glass screens used on LCD TV's. Right down to the pixels. That's what makes the "Luminous" work in the description I guess.
.Finger prints are hidden by this "head-on" view. But when view from an angle you now can see them to clean. The panel cleans easily with glass cleaner. I recommend using foaming glass cleaner.
I'm glad I waited. LG has discontinued this model only after 1 year. It's replacement has the Ice and water dispenser on the left again. Size has been reduced to 30Cft. I went to Home Depot to compare and found it to be shorter and with less shelf height. (2 1/2")
Market trends dictates production! Low sales and high price killed this. *** is ignoring a growing segment of potential customers who have had Very Bad experiences with Ice Maker problems. Instead choosing to put more complicated electronic features into what should be a refrigerator. Forget the Self opening doors, and the built in tablet on the door, or the ability to see "some" of my food without opening the door. Stick to Basics, basic features & affordable price.
Concentrate on making an appliance that lasts 20 years or more. Not just 10 or less. Appliances used to be called "Durable Goods" not "Disposable Goods" . Mr. *** are you listening. The appliance industry needs your help!
Another Korean manufacturer bases refrigerator operations around the icemaker, resulting in erratic temperatures and costly repairs if just the icemaker fails.
*** release this as there "Luxury" segment in 2015 with just the "Basics" and storage options. Asking price was nearly *** Nope not me. So to find it available thru Great Offer Stock was a gem. Use the Great Offer Stock card offer and save another 10%. and free shipping.***
made it some what more affordable.(compared to similar models)
Now comes the Fall Out! Delivery! The Hassle you may endure!
Even after purchasing "White Glove" service: 1. You must get the old fridge out of your house. 2. Get ready to make phone calls to find when your unit will be delivered. There were 3 delivery companies involved in my delivery. YRC handles the freight shipment and you can track. Then they hand it off to a local company contracted to do the "White Glove" delivery, who sat on it for several days before they could tell you what day but couldn't tell you what time of the day until the day before. I believe the delivery company subbed the delivery to a Moving and storage company and was not told they would have to : Unpack, Set it in my house, and haul away the packaging. Driver said this was only a drop off!
WARNING: I am sure this is not the case all the time, This was my experience and I live outside the Denver metro area. I was able to install the fridge myself and was compensated by Great Offer Stock and all is well. My advise: Ask questions, document names, and times..This could happen with any large or "Over-sized" items requiring placement into your home. I rated the fridge 5 stars, Great Offer Stock 3 stars,
Shipper 1 (YRC) 4 Stars, Delivery #2 1 Star, and Delivery #3 3 Stars.
