I need to replace my origami kitchen aid food processor which I totally loved. I thought this one would be as nice, but the body is plastic! My old one was really heavy and metal, this one is light and I am not really happy with the base. It works great, the dicing was a bit tricky. All in all, this unit is just ok, not worth the price
Read MoreListen folks! After using this machine for dicing, the post got stuck to the shaft. I called customer service and they advised me that sometimes food gets between the post and the shaft which acts like a glue. I followed their advice and still no success at releasing it; so, I sent back to Kitchen Aid for a replacement. So, I received the new machine and decided to shred some vegetables, hmmmm. Well, I couldn't believe it, there is a product design defect here, so be prepared if you insist on having a Kitchen Aid Food Processor to shred anything. The blade sits on a post, the same post used to spin the blade for dicing, but that is it! The blade is not secured by anything and so it wobbles. The shredded yield for a carrot or cheese is very disappointing and messy. Chunks of stuff get stuck under the dome and do nothing but sit there, spinning if it gets unstuck. So after every round, I had to take out the debris to see what I was doing wrong...hmmmm, looking at the user manual, I read on page 19 "A few larger pieces of food may remain on top of the disc after slicing of shredding. If desired, cut these by hand and add to mixture." What????????? Unbelievable, too bad I gave away my Cuisine Art food process of 30 years in anticipation my order arriving. Really? Yes, I was wide eyed for the dicer, but all this goes to show that not everything is what it seems...I'm hugely upset, because I have been waiting for years to "upgrade" to Kitchen Aid products. I may have to sell this to some someone who just doesn't care, but would be happy to have one for about half the price so I can at least cover the cost to get back to a Cuisine Art, sadly.
