Nice cabinet, but...
I bought this 8" deep cabinet to add storage space to my rather narrow kitchen. I was a little disappointed that I had to assemble what are essentially two separate small cabinets to make one large cabinet. This means that even though the finished internal width is about 29", the cabinet can only accommodate an item up to about 14" wide, since a solid double partition runs up the middle. The fit and finish are pretty good, but the shell is rather plain pine. The top and bottom trim did not quite line up right when mating the two halves, but with a little sanding it looks okay. I chose the maple doors and they are very nicely sanded with professional fit and no gaps in the wood joints or warping. But, again, I had to apply my own clear finish (polyurethane in this case) and that is a lot of trouble on cabinets costing this much. The doors come unattached, and I didn't have any trouble mounting them accurately, but I am concerned that only one screw at each hinge holds the doors to the cabinet. I'm not sure how well this will hold up over time. The hinge is a soft close type that should help to add to the life of the hinge and door. The door knobs are very plain, but since the doors are not pre-drilled, I chose another style to match the existing knobs in my kitchen. The shelves are glass, which is perfectly serviceable, but I like wood better and I plan to replace them in the near future. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase but only because I could not find a shallow cabinet anywhere else without resorting to a very high priced custom job.
