High quality cabinets
I had thought about getting garage cabinets for a while and even had a few install companies and services give quotes but never ever felt that the problem (garage storage) and/or solution (products offered) was worth the price they were asking. On a whim I came across these on Great Offer Stock and I thought about and researched the brand for a while thru various Google search, message boards, blogs and vlogs. Got sent a 17% off coupon and once I considered it, the on sale price AND the rewards back I knew I wouldn't find anything else even remotely close in price and that is was worth a try. Previously I had been stuck between the Bold series (strictly on price alone) and Pro so when I factored in all the discounts (and the pro series (so I thought) only equaled a wider/taller/deeper + thicker steel cabinets I took a chance on the more expensive ones. When I got them home I was super glad I did go with Pro; even though it made delivery and install a smidge more complicated...
First things first; I didn't know prior to the 24g cabinets is industry standard so...anytime you come across a steel cabinet in a big box store or warehouse that's what 24g feels like. I didn't know this...went around for weeks trying to find a side by side only to learn (from an auto mechanic) that you won't find that comparison...18g is an upgrade; usually costly so ti would be super rare to find them displayed on a floor anywhere other than a dealer showroom. Another cool point about these cabinets is they come for the most part all in one piece; not just fully assembled; this is also awesome and it adds to the integrity of the piece.
Secondly as I mentioned early; I had thought the only difference between the Pro and Bold series was gauge and dimensions; boy was I wrong. I learned when I got them (and then went and compared posts and vlogs) that they came with more shelves (the Bold wall cabinets do not have any shelves; Pro has one...floor cabinets = 5 shelves to the Bolds 3) and the Pro base cabinets have more interior features like (in this set) one with a top drawer and two side by side pull out compartments (one is a trash can the other is a bin sorter type of thing) and the two door base has a slide-out shelf too (right now I can't recall if the bottom shelf slides too). All drawers are smooth glide self closing and all doors are magnetic snap back (can't recall right now if the Bold series has the same or not there). The floor cabinets also have tool hooks you can install and the adjustable shelves for those and the wall cabinets (the base cabinets have fixed shelves) are all super thick and heavy steel as well. I don't foresee any bending, warping or slope happening on these anytime soon). I was originally hoping to set-up an L configuration (that wound up not being possible in my space AND if you do want to do that the corner workbench connector piece I thought I could forgo will be kinda clutch) but I am happy with the straight across set-up.
Some logistic items to note...1) make sure your walls are "straight" meaning no bowing and flat across all points of connection. Mine were not; I didn't realize this until I went to install them and couldn't get it all to line up. A wood shim behind one helped a little but ultimately I had to sand down and refinished the drywall to make it flush. 2) While two people aren't required for install I would recommend it - these cabinets are heavy and there are a couple points in the process where having 1.5 hands works. 3) Delivery is gnarly; at least mine was. So much so that I took notes. The cabinets will come via freight delivery which means a dude with a pallet jack will show up at your door asking you where do you want your pallets. This is important because if shrinkwrapped and palleted they do not fit thru your garage door they will be left in your driveway and you now get to figure out how to shift them on your own (see previous point about how 2 people are necessary...just recommended). The 12 piece set comes via 2 pallets totaling 1,650 lbs and 90.5" tall. The delivery guy likely will not take them off the pallet nor will he help you move them and them not fitting in the garage boxed "happens all the time". Also if your driveway has a steep slope he's likely to leave them on the curb cause they're way to heavy to try to negotiate down a hill and more often than not he's one dude. I had to cut them out of the boxes (using the cardboard to make a path) and tip them on their sides (the floor cabinets) and push/slide them along the cardboard into my garage and then tip them back up to leave them where I wanted them. The wall cabinets are light enough to pick-up maneuver empty and the base cabinets are also ok to push/slide on the cardboard. 4) The height spec'ed on the listing is it WITHOUT feet. They come with fixed feet (wheels you can buy separately if you want em) you add on and can adjust up and down. The feet themselves are about 2" and there is 1.5" or so of adjuster to help level them. This is also important cause if like me; you're mounting them underneath your garage track you're gonna wanna clear that or you can't use the floor cabinets on the ends as shown. Luckily I made it with 1 inch to spare. 5) make sure your floor/wall doesn't have a cement piece that sticks out off the wall if you want the floors and walls to connect together. I have this; a 4" piece. Luckily I was able to put the back of the cabinet on it and use a 2"x4" piece under the front feet and then I bolted it to the studs to evenly distribute the weight. 6) the floor cabinets; really should be bolted to the walls even if you think they're sturdy (which they are). They're heavy enough on their own that if they tip over and hit anything they're doing damage to whatever they hit.
All that said I'm super stoked and I would quickly do it all over again; even at the non sale no coupon price because they really are "worth" (when you consider all other comparable and even non comparable storage solutions) what m is asking. YES I'd go with the Pro series over the Bold series anyday...the difference in product and features is well worth the cost delta. The only downside is they're made in China would've preferred they be made in the US but I wasn't able to find a comparable US made product at all...or even a US made fully steel solution...which in hindsight makes sense...China does have the lock on the steel market...
