I got this rug on sale for our baby boy's modern nursery so for me, it was great value. I wanted something made of natural materials rather than synthetic. It looks great in the room.
COLOR
As other commenters noted, this rug is in-between a true dark navy and a medium blue. I think it's nicer than a really dark navy for the decor we have. In the photo, the off white color looks quite "white". It really is more of a true beige with a noticalble yellow undertone. SMELL
A couple of caveats: this rug smells musty. I sprinkled baking soda all over the rug, let it sit on the rug for 24 hours, then vacuumed it up. This trick worked well but I wish I had sprinkled a fresh layer of baking soda over the first one and repeated the process. There is still a faint musty smell if you get down on the floor to smell it (we have a baby that is now starting to crawl so I'm on the floor a lot).
FIBERS
We've had the rug now for a couple of months and there are odd plastic like fibers that I occasionally pull out of the rug. Not many and not enough to be alarmed, but they do not look like natural wool to me. I still wonder what is coming out of the rug.
FEEL
This wool rug is not as soft as other rugs I have made in the same looped style. I"ve felt synthetic rugs (from Belgium) that were softer. Again, not a huge detractor given the price I paid.
UPDATE TWO YEARS LATER>>> I have a Miele canister vacuum and this rug is impossible to clean without whipping out the wand and getting on my hands and knees to do every square foot. Lint / fuzz / etc shows up very easily and that sucks. I'm looking to buy a different rug now.
