We live in New England, where the snowfall last year topped 8 feet. These rainchains work beautifully, replacing downspouts that always freeze solid. The rainchains "disappear" visually until it either rains or snow from the roof melts down from the gutters. Then, they become like works of art, channeling the water down the links into a large copper pot. The open link shape is the ONLY choice for climates that freeze up. We previously tried the tulip shape, and they don't thaw correctly. The open links do freeze, and then when the sun hits them, they shine and sway as they thaw. It's beautiful, efficient, easy to maintain, and the water can be caught & recycled in the garden, or channeled away from the house. Highly recommended!
