I went just slightly outside of my budget to purchase these barstools because they were exactly what I was looking for: mid-century design (worked perfectly with the newly-remodeled kitchen in my 1950's home), adjustable height (for adults as well as my small children), and upholstered seat (for comfort).
I only have one gripe, but it's not the fault of the barstool or manufacturer--when users swivel the seat to get out of the barstool, they have a tendency to bump into the island top, which is stainless steel. This has caused the finish to scratch off of the wood seatback in several areas. This is my fault though, since I didn't anticipate this (and haven't come up with a solution yet). I would only caution anyone using these stools to be prepared for the 'swivel effect'. =)
