Picky person review-
We needed a pair of accent chairs for our living room, and decided to try these as the price was right with the coupon. You can only use an coupon if the item is not on sale, which irritates me sometimes, but it worked for this purchase. Reading many, many reviews for these and other chairs and trying to decide took a while, but am glad I chose these.
Note: these chairs are sold individually, not as a pair.
Thought maybe a thorough review would help someone else, so here it is.
Packagng- these came FULLY ASSEMBLED. Out of the box and into use. The box had banged up corners, but the chairs arrived in perfect shape. They were covered in a polyester chair-shaped bag inside the box. I thought when someone said they arrived fully assembled, they were mistaken, because the box looked low, but was happily surprised not to have to screw the legs on!
Style- having sold antiques, I liked the vintage style of these chairs. Antique chairs are lovely, but sometimes problematic if you want to use them. These look good and I don't sweat someone twisting around in them and a leg breaking. They also don't creak like my antique chairs are prone to do. Loved the way the back curves; just be aware these won't tuck into a tiny corner.
Size- Allow enough room for their depth- look at the measurements, get a tape measure, and make sure you have room to walk in front of them. I bought a pair to use in a wide walkway, but wound up using only one and moving the other to another spot. (I didn't follow the tape measure advice...) But am still glad I bought them- they look great where they are.
Craftsmanship- really well made. The quality is way better than the price would indicate. On both of the chairs I bought, the button tufting is straight and even, there are no odd puckers and pulled areas in the upholstery finish, the legs are on straight and solid, the wheels on the front legs look well made, and the (black paint with the gray upholstery) finish on the legs is even. There is enough foam padding so edges of the frame are not visible or felt when sitting
Seat- my husband said these chairs looked too low for him, but was surprised when he sat down that they were fine for him. He is 6' and I'm 5'2"- for me I agree with other short reviewers that a pillow behind my back is a good idea- helps my feet touch the floor fully.
Firmness- this is not a squishy soft chair. It has a very firm but comfortable seat. Bought these for extra seating if we have more people over. Way more comfortable than a dining chair for a guest, and looks good. This will not be my go to chair for reading or lounging, but is a pretty accent chair.
Color- charcoal gray. The color is a true gray, not a muddy brownish gray. Color is the hardest thing to describe because people see color differently. It's not just always the monitor- Would help if you could get fabric samples, but then this chair would not be at this price point!
Fabric- this is hard to describe. The fabric has a weave that reminds me of linen, but it has a slight sheen to it. Does not have the flat look of cotton or linen fabric, but does appear it will wear well. Sometimes cotton will stretch and the tight, crisp upholstered look gets looser- these do not look like this would happen.
Hope I've addressed all the questions I had when chair shopping- hope your chairs are as good as both of mine are. Was concerned when ordering two chairs that they would not match, but this is not the case. They arrived several days apart but they match perfectly. The shipping was the only thing we had some issues with- arriving late and days apart. After getting an email saying they weren't sure when the second chair would arrive and no tracking info was available, the chair arrived the next day. This is the only time I've ever had an issue with Great Offer Stock shipping, and they were great on the phone.
Hope this helps you- color is the gamble when you order anything online, but it would be hard to beat the quality at this price anywhere.
