We needed to replace an unsuitable ceiling-hugging light in a hall-alcove of our dining area. This worked perfectly. It's very modern yet it can live and play nicely with traditional furniture, light fixtures, table settings. I have a lot of tablesetting items, both modern and traditional and I decorate this room for seasonal activities and foods. The room has teak pieces plus mahogany 1940s repro antiques, with lots of silver and glass in the china cab. The fixture's twinkle is great and generally camouflages four the bare bulbs above. Much of the light is reflected upwards and in my situation, reflects back into the room again from the white paint on ceiling. The illuminated light on the ceiling radiates somewhat like spokes and is roughly same or wider in diameter than an automobile tire, giving the light a greater importance when it's illuminated. Otherwise, it's quiet and retiring. My fixture is on a dimmer and in the dimmer position it functions like a ceiling night light for us...a gentle golden yellow illumination of the path through the sleeping house for guests.
