This furniture is beautiful. I love it, but I have two problems:
1) The instruction sheet - not very detailed. The illustrations are sometimes not detailed enough. The instructions about the drawer runners was confusing. After reading it 3 times I still got it wrong and had to reinstall them (they were in backwards.) Suggestion: Add a detailed diagram of the runner unit and specify which end goes towards the front. (It took me about 2-3 hours to assemble everything; it would have been less time if I didn't have to re-do the drawer runners.)
2) The bottom of the drawers is a VERY cheap cardboard like material. Come on - it needs something more sturdy than that! How about making the groove bigger than 1/8" and provide a more sturdy material (for the drawers AND the back of the unit)? So what if if adds an inch or two to the overall height of the chest? It's worth it. For future buyers - you can improve upon the cardboard insert. I went to *************and spent $**** on some 1/8" hardboard, cut it to the size of the insert and VOILA! The hardboard is still not as strong as another more sturdy product, but it's considerably better than the cardboard insert that came with the chest. (To the makers of this furniture - I would recommend providing hardboard instead of the cardboard insert OR, better yet, make the groove larger than 1/8" and provide something more substantial. What cost me $** would probably cost you far less when buying in bulk, and your cuts would be faster, easier and nicer looking than what I did. Besides, I would have gladly paid $10 more for this item to have a sturdier drawer bottom (and back), rather than having to go to the hassle of buying/cutting it myself.
