3 years ago, I ordered the Comfort Dreams 11 inch select-a-firm mattress, firm, queen. It has withstood the test of time. It has remained it's shape and firmness. After 1.5 years of use, we use it in the guest bedroom. Everyone who has slept on the guestroom bed say they slept "very well" - regardless of their preference of firmness. Based on the performance of our 1st Comfort Dreams 11-inch select-a-firm mattress, I went with Comfort Dreams vs. ALL other Great Offer Stock memory foam mattress. King 14-inch Gel memory foam is JUST as firm as the Queen 11-inch select-a-firm. We chose 3 more inches because our previous pillow top mattress was the same height. (+) All of our bedsheets fit appropriately. (+) Comfortably cool on the surface.
This is a pretty comfortable mattress I do admit, and we have permanent neck/back injuries from a car accident and our weight is almost 100 lbs difference so the fact we can both sleep on this without pain earns it 4 stars...and in fact, we both found it more comfortable than the beds we slept in since at two different 4 star hotels with "premium" beds... but I wanted to address firmness differences (being as I have this bed in a couple different firmness levels as I bought them for my 3 kids as well) "Firm" is not uber firm like a standard mattress. It will have some give, but how much really depends on what you weigh. For reference I am about 135 lbs and my husband fluctuates somewhere between 210 and 220. I don't "sink" into our firm model but maybe 1/2" so for me its clearly a firm mattress, akin to a firm mattress with pillow top, for MY weight. My husband who is over 200 lbs, sinks into our "firm" one as much as I do at 135 lbs into our medium one...around 4 inches of sink down. That said, even though he prefers a traditional firm mattress feel and always has, he acknowledges this feels softer BUT this conforms to his body shape and is firm "enough" for his weight for him to sleep well and wake pain free. This has been very comfortable for him, he LOVES this mattress in firm. The firm is much more firm to me than to my husband, obvious by the sink down difference between us, as such, I prefer the medium. I also suffer back and neck pain but because I weigh so much less, the medium is heaven to me. (When I sit on my son's medium, I often want to just lay down and take a nap on it, and I have a few times lol...soooo comfy) However, while the firm is a little stiffer than my body would like from a purely falling asleep comfort perspective, its not so much so that I can't sleep on it and still wake up without pain as well. So basically, if you are expecting it to be the same feel as an innerspring, think again...it will "feel" softer firmness for firmness. However, even though you sink into it, it will still support you well if you are in pain on an innerspring and think it might be because you have too much give in your innerspring mattress or the springs are not supporting you in the right spots anymore. For reference, we had a medium sealy innerspring with a 4" memory foam pillow top prior to this bed that worked fine for me, but my husband had pain from day 1 with it that began to subside the first night on this bed. That was over 2 months ago now, and he has not woke up once complaining about his back or neck since we got this one in firm. Now he only has pain occasionally from moving around wrong while he is awake. Even though I find the medium more comfortable for my weight range, I still sleep on the firm just fine with him without pain myself...except for the part where sometimes I roll "downhill" towards him just because he sinks deeper into it than I do, but this has always been an issue no matter the mattress lol. Also, a bonus with the firm is that I can sit my glass of water directly on the bed next to me and move around, and it wont budge lol, just like a competitors commercial and wine glass (Though I would suggest a quite waterproof cover if you plan to do this, as water can ruin this bed should you actually bump the glass over)
This mattress is definitely 14 inches thick foam/gel. It came all rolled up like a carpet but it inflated to perfection soon after it was opened. Again, minor delivery problem with UPS as they dropped it up the hill 100 yards from my apartment, UPS returned after I called and graciously brought it too me. this is my third mattress in five years As I am coming down with fibromyalgia and I'm like the princess that slept on a pea! I LOVE my fluffy, firm, supportive purchase! I doubt I will ever buy another kind of mattress after I've slept on this one.
Comfort Dreams Select-a-Firmness 14-inch Queen-size Copper Gel Memory Foam Mattress
Do not get, terrible, too soft. The Comfort Dreams 11-Inch is AWESOME!! and So we thought that the 14-inch would be even better.....not the case. Very bad. BUT, I would recommend purchasing their 11-inch memory foam mattress, we have had it now for 4 years, our daughter used it for 2, and we have not used it for 2 and it is still holding up great!
Although we're totally disappointed and regret purchasing this bed - I'll be very clear its not the beds fault. In our situation, it was a terrible idea to order a bed online. Maybe our hopes were way too high - we were so desperate to replace our 18 year old sleep number bed I was counting on this Comfort Dreams mattress to allow us a much needed sleep oasis...but we both actually dislike this bed even more. When I was researching this purchase, other people noted "if you like a firm bed, order the medium" - this is absolutely not the case. I wish we would have ordered the firm, this one is super cushy. We would have returned this bed but there is absolutely no way we could have gotten this (now expanded) 150 pound foam mattress back into the original shipping shape and shipping package - we don't have a vacuum seal machine, had to cut the plastic to get the mattress out, and the outer cardboard box was so tattered when we got it from UPS (our 5 foot 100 pound UPS driver delivered this 150 pound 6+ foot box) it was literally been impossible. I kept holding out hope that if we gave it just one more month, we'd get used to it, but I now wake up feeling 70 years old with sore hips, legs and feet, toss and turn all night and my husbands back is really unhappy now too. Some nights he ends up on the couch and some nights I sleep on the office floor on our old pillow top mattress cover but it will be years until we can afford something different. In this case, the huge savings by buying a mattress online was not to our benefit. The GREAT and AWESOME things about this mattress is that it is NOT hot - you stay nice and cool, it seems to be a great quality and after the mattress setup period there was no smell or chemical odor AND my super sensitive allergies had NO reaction to this mattress. My opinion - the medium is really soft so buy up a firmness.
Very comfortable, firm, and great for my daughter's back. Just know that the 14 inch mattress is probably closer to 16 or 17 inches.
This mattress exceeded my expectations. 14 inches is tall! I previously had a 9 inch foam - this made a difference in requiring a box spring - no need for a box spring. Sits great on the bedframe.
Love the gel memory foam and very comfortable. I would recommend this product.
The bed sleeps well, doesnt get too warm like other memory foam mattresses i have had before. Same problems as most memory foam, where the edges sink in.
wish i would have purchased a softer mattress. had to buy a 3 inch memory foam topper to make this comfortable. it's fine now. also, i wish i would have purchased a 10-inch or less thickness so the sheets fit better, because now, my thickness is 17 inches. it's hard to change the sheets.
I hesitated on the firmness as I am 5'3" and 130lbs, and my husband is 6' and 168lbs and he wanted firm for back support and I like it plush and soft. Our old mattress was 13 years old and had cost us thousands of dollars from Serta. It had done its duty and I decided to buy memory foam for the value and because I had bought 8" and 10" memory foam mattresses for the kids and our guest room before and they all loved them. After reading all the reviews here, and researching, I chose this product because it had a 4lb density, which, from my research, anything above 4lbs density would give you the longevity, the antimicrobial and anti dust mites or bed bugs that it offered. Also, this brand had a ten year manufacturers warranty versus the others did not fully state any warranties on their brand. Will it hold to 13 years as my old mattress? Time will tell. Another concern, not sure if really an issue, is if you sit on edge, it does slope you down, unlike traditional mattresses that hold the edge up. But we rarely sit at the edge and use our bed for what it is meant for, sleeping. We plopped it down on our existing Cal King box springs and laid down on it and we were thrilled. We also ordered the Slumber Solutions Highloft Cool 2-inch memory foam topper, just in case I wanted extra plushness. And wow, even my husband was blown away. We can't wait to sleep on it. I will update this in the next few weeks and months. Also, loved the cover. It is a suede bottom with zipper. It seems to have plumped up to almost its 14" in just the one hour so far. Am thrilled. Thank you Great Offer Stock. I posted a photo of it just newly opened on our bed. Oh, and it had only a very minor odor, nothing major. A hint of odor if you put your nose down to mattress. We are airing it out for now but we likely will sleep on it tonight after 11hours to vent and plump up.
I researched memory foam mattresses and collected my data, found this specific one but was very apprehensive buying a mattress without laying on it for awhile first. I decided to trust my research and "buy online " and I could not be any happier! Everyone loves the comfort level and it's a dream. If you want to sleep on a cloud, this is the mattress for you, too.
great deal for the cost seems higher then 14 inches wen fully expanded
I researched EVERY memory foam mattress I could find. After about 3 months of research I picked this one, on the recommendation of a friend who owns one. I decided to get the FIRM mattress because I figure it will soften up a bit with use, and I did not want it to be too soft. I also bought the memory foam mattress with gel in it so it wouldn't be too hot to sleep. We don't get hot when we sleep. This mattress is very firm, but it is not uncomfortable. My husband and I sleep VERY well on the mattress. It weighs a TON, so follow the instructions on how to open it. If you don't have help, I would place the mattress on the foundation BEFORE I take off the protective plastic. Our mattress had a slight odor, but not bad. We slept on it the first night with no problems with the odor. In hind-sight we probably could have gone with the 12-inch mattress and saved a little money. We would purchase this mattress again.
We bought the medium firmness in King. We tried the tempurpedic (quoted at $4.5k) in the store and decided, after every several friends bought this type from Great Offer Stock and were happy (for a fraction of the price), that we would go with this one. The mattress didn't have too bad of an odor when opened. I love the firmness, my hubby wasn't sure at first but had his snore back on in a few days. I am not sure if the cooling gel that is supposed to be infused in the foam works since I've added the matress cover. The details said made in America, which I like. I don't like that the cover doesn't come off to wash. If you go with thiis one, recommend getting a matress cover so you can wash it. I would recommend this matress to friends and family. Very pleased with the product.
Love the Gel Memory Foam Mattress
I now own an extra long twin (soft, 11 inch), a queen (soft, 11 inch) and now this king size 14" gel, in soft version that my wife and I sleep on. I bought the twin a few years ago as a "test" of comfort dreams mattresses. That led me to buy the queen for the guest bedroom, and now this gel king, which is the best one yet. It's fantastic for us because we are side sleepers. I'm about 6'5" and weigh 250, and I haven't slept on a better bed. There is a noticable difference in the amount of retained heat relative to the non gel versions I own. Highly recommend.
OK, this is our first memory foam so I was sceptical of buying a mattress online without testing it first so here's what the wife and I did. We went to sleep train and tested out all the memory foam styles to see what we liked. We found that medium to medium firm was comfortable for both of us. I am 6,6 265lbs, my wife is 5,7 130lbs so it was tricky. Once we had our firmness level and layers figured out I went online and found this 14" gel. This is what we got out of it: The layers are perfect, with the medium. As big as I am, I sink in about 3-3.5" right away. It feels soft at first and then I hit the firmness of the medium memory foam. It feels more firm than medium past the initial gel layer. It supports me very well and it takes a couple minutes to fully form around me. I sleep great! I wanted medium- firm and the wife wanted medium-soft. She doesn't really go past the first 3" of soft gel foam so she gets that soft plush feeling she wanted but with alittle support when it forms to her. We got a new cal kind bed from living spaces and a 2" bunky board to replace our regular box spring. Because the mattress is so thick it would have been to high with a 8" box spring. Over all we've had the mattress 2 months and my back problems are gone! 10 years in the Navy has taken its toll on me so that's great! My wife is still loving it as well... My 11mon old daughter doesn't know what to think :)
We bought 2 of these mattresses for our vacation rental home. They arrived quick and were so easy to set up. We selected a medium firmness which is in the middle of the road as a way to please everyone. While setting up the home we slept on it for 2 weeks without complaint. I like it and my partner loves it. I say I like it because it is just so different than our old uber soft bed at home. Our daughter thought the one in her room was awesome and very comfortable too. Overall a fantastic value. It fit perfect in the platform bed frame without a box spring.
