My wife and I are quite happy with our Keurig Platinum home brewer, so much so that we wanted to take the concept with us on our frequent weekend getaways. This little brewer allows us to do just that.
It is important to understand that this unit is designed for commercial use. In order to be as idiotproof as possible, it has minimal features. It disassembles easily for cleaning. In order to accomodate wiring systems in older hotels, it draws about half the current of our home system. This means that it takes twice as long to brew a cup of coffee.
Since we plan to use this exclusively in hotels, and we often stay in older places, I see this as a feature rather than a drawback. We don't want to be tripping breakers in the hotel.
Using it is extremely simple. Pushing the large button on top open the area where the k-cup pod is inserted. When that area is closed after placing the pod, the water reservoir opens. After adding water and closing the top, a light comes on if there is not a cup in the appropriate area. Once a cup is in place, the "Brew" button is pressed.
The reservoir holds 8 ounces. Due to the compact size, some larger cups my not fit in the fill area.
Keurig also makes the K10 Mini Plus system, which is a similar sized unit designed for home use. We chose the B130 over over that one primarily due to its more rugged contruction. It has a very solid feel, not surprising due to its intended commercial use. It also didn't hurt that the B130 is significantly less expensive.
It works exactly as expected, producing a fresh hot cup of great-tasting coffee in about 3 minutes, with no hassles or problems. We're totally pleased with it.
