We really like this 15 piece knife set. The block is made from a nice piece of wood. The pieces were all there and nice and sharp. The handles on the knifes have a good balance and each one is made nicely. Over all I would say if you need a new set or are buying a set for the first time this would be the one to buy. The discount was great + my extra gold points I felt I really got a great deal. Thanks Overstock!
I have been through countless knife sets, all of which left me disappointed. After picking up 4 Chicago Cutlery steak knifes at a local retailer a year ago, I decided next time I replaced my entire knife block set, I would be buying Chicago Cutlery. I cannot say enough about this brand. IT IS WONDERFUL!!! And this set from Great Offer Stock was a bargain. There are a few knifes I wish were included in this set ( a slicing knife), but overall I am happy.
I first became of Chicago Cutlery through an article in Consumer Reports. I purchased a set for myself and subsequently a set for my Mom and my Sister. These are excellent quality and I have had my set for about 7 years and they are still excellent. This is a product that is worth the money.
For the price, these knives are wonderful! I am very pleased and still can't believe how inexpensive they were. They were delivered quickly. They are all very sharp and there is a good assortment of knives for all jobs. I use them daily.
While this is not the top of the line set by Chicago Cutlery, it is a great value for the price. The knives are heavier than most basic knife sets. The blades are sharp and they are well balanced. I would recommend the set to anyone who cannot afford to spend the money needed for the professional sets.
I have never had a good set of sharp knives and now that I do, I realize how important it is to have them. My favorite knife is the curved paring knife. It is well designed and much easier to use that a standard straight paring knife.
nice knife set with all the necessary knifes for food preparation
Excellent quality. Love the riveted handles and the butcher block holder. Comfortable grips and great quality steel blades. First ever Chicago cutlery purchase I have made.
We absolutely love this knife set! Be very careful with the curved paring knife- the curve seems to make it easier to cut yourself with. It's still one of my favorites though, along with the medium-sized chef's knife. These knives wash well, and are easy to sharpen. I highly recommend.
We ordered the Ginsu knife set and tried to cut some bread and found out quickly they weren't sharp as advertized. I did some research and when these came on sale decided to try them out. They are very sharp and thin. My wife likes them. That alone should be a great endorsement.
I bought this new knife block after my old one fell apart. Absolutely love the knife block itself and the knives included are very handy. Love that it includes scissors as well!
This was my first new cutlery set. I love this set. I recommend if you use this set, make sure you're using the right knife when preparing your food, it cuts every time. Using the wrong knife it won't cut at all. The enclosed booklet will tell you what knife to use for different items. Great set!
This knife set had everything we needed and then some. I loved the steak knives and having the block to store them.
This is a great knife set for the price. The quality is good. Knives don't rust in the dishwasher-which happens with cheap knife sets. Very happy with this purchase.
Great set of knives. First time I have had a knife block. I love it!
I placed my order on Monday and received the knife set on Friday. UPS was very helpful, but Great Offer Stock didn't pass my full address to UPS, which caused a bit hassle to fix with UPS. No big deals. I did some research and Chicago Cutlery was one of the recognized brands. My hope was high. Hope is a dangerous game to play as the knives turn out to be rather disappointing: 1 - Some of the knife handles were scratched fresh from the box. We are not picky customers and we can live with these scratches. It's fine... 2 - I was excited to use the knife for the first time to slice through some yams... and the blade turned red? It was extremely disappointing as the knife was brand new...I tried scrubbing but it wont come off... Maybe I should consider going back to my science class and find a way to get rid of this stain.... Never thought about taking care of a knife to be this educating... 3 - Knives are slightly lighter than what I expected (it's a personal preference). I find it harder to chop or slice some larger produce (e.g. yams, which are normally harder than potatoes) The knives other than the bizarre color change/scratches/the weight are a decent starter set. They cut pretty well for smaller produce. We will try them on meat but from the feel of the knives, they are expected to cut well. The price is decent, and thus a three star rating. My husband and I are not planning to keep them for long. We will keep looking for another set. We won't recommend this to friends.
What I hear is true, there is no better knife block set than the Chicago Cutlery. Their reputation surpases every knife set I've ever heard of. It is an every day word when it comes to knifes, ask any woman or man, it is the best !
This knife block set is for my sister. I was so disgusted with the quality and lack of proper knives. This knife set will be an excellent addition to her kitchen.
The set is really nice. The wood block is nicely done - not cheap looking! The knifes are quality blades and are sturdy. Glad I bought this and would recommend to others.
I held back on getting these until I could see, feel, and get an idea of what they were like. I loved the way they felt and how heavy the Santoku was. I was still on the fence until I read the reviews and decided that it was a perfect fit. The knifes were exceptionally sharp out of the box and with a quick pass or two, they're holding a razor sharp edge. I've an older Chef's knife that I'm adding to the set to keep me going until I can find a larger Chicago Cutlery block so I can probably add a Carving knife to the bundle. I'm VERY satisfied with the purchase, but only wished that the steak knives were a little thicker.
