I bought the Carmel Queen bed. This bed is beautiful! I am doing a mid century coastal guest room and I love the warm Carmel wood color and open airy feel the head board gives. The quality is very good and it is very sturdy. My fiancé put it together with no issues. I would recommend this bed to anyone who is wanting that modern mid century, boho, coastal, or shabby chic look. It does sit low at 12 inches off the ground so we are using a 14inch mattress to give it some height.

If you would like to see what hell is like, try putting this bed together. Some written directions are missing altogether from the booklet, the images given are inverted/mirrored from what it should actually look like so you can’t even go by sight, some holes are not scored at all so you are stuck forcing screws into the wood directly with no hole to guide. I am currently sitting on the floor STILL ASSEMBLING and after 2.5 HOURS I am on step 7 of 18. Some directions seem like poor translations which makes sense seeing as it was made in China, but they are contradictory and confusing. To boot it came with a couple chunks taken out of it! I won’t be returning it because it looks well enough and I am sure as sh*t not disassembling this again after everything we’ve just gone through. I will keep my infuriating bed frame, if only out of spite. If you aren’t interested in bruised, raw hands or a budding awareness that the universe hates you, this is not the frame for you.

I am reviewing the queen bed in mahogany. I’m going to start with this: I don’t see why there are so many complaints about putting this bed together. That being said, it was time consuming because there are so many pieces. It’s the bed version of a 1000 piece puzzle, so if you don’t like puzzles or a little sweat equity, perhaps shop at a higher price point. It took me about 2 hours to put the bed together, I had a little help from my partner with some of the screws, but he is recovering from a broken leg and really couldn’t do or help very much. It would have probably taken me 2 1/2 hours without his help. I was able to get the box inside by myself, but it wouldn’t be easy if it had to go up any stairs, it is heavy. Putting it together wasn’t challenging, but time consuming. I found the instructions to be clear and straightforward. I expected some bumps from reviews that I read and previous experience with prefabricated furniture. I had read some reviews where the pre fab holes were off. I had this happen with one screw on the base of the bed. I was able to use a drill to help me get the screw to thread and make its way into the original hole. While putting together the base of the bed, I used a drop cloth under the wood to prevent any scratching to the frame. I read a lot of review about the spindles on the headboard, however I found that the issue of loose spindles worked itself out as I attached the bottom piece and attached the headboard to the frame. Be careful when tightening the screws into the top of the spindles, I went a little too tight on one and it popped through the top of the wood. Nothing major happened, there is a tiny hole that I can only see when I look for it. Small tip when adding the slates to the bed frame, make sure your slates are touching in the center. If you go flush to the sides you wont be able to screw into the center wood brace and you slates wont be connected. The completed bed is lovely. It’s style is versatile and will work with a couple different trends as tastes change. It looks more expensive then it was, which is a plus. The legs are tall and their is good space under the bed. I measure the clearing a little over 7”. This makes for good added storage space and the ability to easily fetch missing dog toys and clean dust. Even though the legs are high, this is a platform bed so it is still very low to the ground. I don’t have a thick enough of a mattress at 7”, this makes hard to get in and out of the bed, making it feel like a very large dog bed. Good on their hips, bad on mine. I tried to add my standard box spring but it makes the bed too tall and blocks too much of the headboard. This means I will either need to buy a low profile box spring (5”) or a new taller mattress (I believe a 12” mattress would be ideal). I saw some reviews about the space between the headboard and the top of the mattress, I actually think this is a blessing. My partner is 6’3” and the queen bed boarders on too short for him, the gap actually allows him to sleep higher up on the mattress, allowing for more space at the end of the bed. Finally the one major mistake I think they made with the bed is the unfinished black screws at the top of the headboard. They aren’t a deal breaker, but they do remind you what you paid for the bed. I went over them with brown paint to help them blend in to the headboard better, this might be hard to match with the lighter shades. Overall, I say go ahead, make the purchase. Plan a few hours of build time.

Absolute nightmare to put together. Fifty eight pieces plus hardware. Instructions contradict themselves, hardware is mislabeled, pieces are cut uneven, missing screws... nightmare. I’m including this photo to show that yes it’s very nice looking but I wish I would have saved myself the trouble.

I LOVE THIS BED!!! It is a tad difficult to put together, that is true. But it's not nearly as.difficult as some of these reviews let on. My advice is to pay CLOSE ATTENTION to the drawings in the steps, they very correctly display what orientation the pieces need to be in to put it together. I also would NOT try to do this alone!! Definitely a two person job. One of the side rails had holes that weren't drilled in the exact place they need to be, so that was a little time consuming. Just have patience, and kept screwing it in. These points should probably cause me to drop a star, but not gonna. The end product is fantastic. It's sturdy. It's stylish. It has.beautiful clean lines. It's really quite wonderful. I would absolutely buy it again, in spite of the elevated level of assembly difficulty
