Bold and commanding
Described an a "cityscape," I might more accurately have characterized it as an urban implosion -- of races, ethnicities, classes, socioeconomic strata, whatever the abstract part of the brain chooses to sense and feel upon first viewing this piece. So, we apparently agree on the city part, but I guess his intent was to merely represent it while I felt the need to implode it. Maybe we should have gotten together and compromised, calling it a "profusion...", more interesting than a representation but certainly a bit less dramatic than an implosion. Whatever. Bottom line -- I find the color palette and the overall composition of this piece both powerful and striking. A final note: because of spatial limitations, I am TEMPORARILY displaying this work vertically rather than horizontally. Although it looks fine, I intend to replace it with another more appropriately sized piece so this one can be correctly displayed HORIZONTALLY in its own space. Yes, you may correctly interpret this as an expression of my high regard for this artist.
