I liked the look of this piece and found it when I decided on getting the matching barnside kitchen island. The price is good for what it is. It's solid woods (I think a soft wood like rubberwood or something). I am more than familiar with putting "needs assembly" furniture together so I went ahead and ordered it. The shipping was super fast. The piece comes in two boxes and I took everything out before beginning assembly to make sure it was all there. As a PSA I will now tell you what you need to know if you decide to purchase this piece:
1. There are 4 screws for the magnet pieces. They are mixed up with the other tiny screws and the difference is that they are a dark brown vs. black (you need a good eye to sort them out).
2. When putting on pieces E & F (they are the back stabilizers) be sure to put the sides with the pilot holes facing on the outer side because at the end that is where you put the screws in. I did not realize this and put all of my pieces the wrong way. Not a big deal to me because I just put the screws on the inside of the cabinet instead of the back outside. (and there was no way in h.e.doublehockeysticks that I was going to take off pieces just to put those pieces on the right way).
3. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT CON ABOUT THIS PIECE. The bottom piece could be used by itself. The top part is similar to a hutch on a desk. UNFORTUNATELY the top piece of the bottom part HAS NO HOLES drilled for the cam screws. I noticed it right away when putting the thing together. I had to take the two dowels out of the top to put the top part on the bottom part. I have decided not to drill holes for the cam screws because all of the other cam screw holes are drilled and they have a plastic/rubber insert to make the cam screws sit securely. If I drill holes (even if I would be lucky enough to get the holes drilled in the right place) I am afraid I'll mess up the piece. I've decided that I will use L brackets on the inside to secure the top piece to the bottom.
I haven't put the doors on yet so I'm hoping I have no problem getting those to fit perfectly.
I put it together by myself (43 yo F) and it took me about 3 hours doing it somewhat leisurely.
