I have been a die hard Capresso owner for more than 20 years. From the first grind and brew model to the newest Coffee Team Pro Plus, I have tried the all. After experiencing the "clogging issues" with the Coffee Team Pro and the newest "Plus" version, I returned it to Capresso for a refund and set out to determine the new best of the best. There were also serious timing issues that caused too much coffee to be ground for the cups selected on the machine. After spending 4 days reviewing the top grind and brew options, I honed in on the Breville BDC650BSS. Every review was positive other than the price. However, sometimes for quality and reliability you have to pay a little more. From the day I received the new coffee maker to today (about 30 days) I have had no issues with clogging or anything else. For those readers that are not into daily cleaning, there are two areas within the machine that will need attention. The round silver disk where the coffee grinds come out and a collection tray where loose grinds may fall. Of course you will need to dump the grinds and clean the thermal decanter, but so far that's about it. The other step I highly recommend is running HOT water into the thermal decanter each time you brew coffee. This step will guarantee a piping hot coffee when you pour the first cup of java. The only feature missing from this more than perfect model is a charcoal water filter. Although I have soft water in my house, most people with hard water will experience the white scale build up that can ultimately clog the brewing process. And for a few $ more, buy the 3 year extended warranty. Most credit card companies offer the double extended warranty feature (2 years for the original 1 year warranty) with retail purchases, but for a few $ more you will get an additional year of satisfaction. This model is highly recommended for the best of the best in grind and brew coffee.
Breville's coffee grinder/maker is best in class. I prefer to grind my coffee at brew time and this makes the process seamless. Brew quality is excellent and the stainless still carafe keeps the coffee nice and hot...very happy...
This coffee maker is great. It serves as both a normal carafe coffee pot as well as a single cup. It is well worth the price tag, which is comparable to some of the K-cup style single coffee makers. Not only that, you reduce the amount of trash by not having to use K-cups, and its much cheaper for coffee.
This coffee maker has been a terrible investment ($*** and lots of fresh coffee beans). It begins with how laborious it is to maintain and clean it. Cleaning the grinder is a far too frequent task because of the constant clogs in the grinder. The grinder pushes the fresh ground beans through a chute attached into the removable coffee basket that holds the filter. This chute must be completely dry or the fresh ground coffee will become lodged there, clogging the chute also, and then fail to push the grinds into the basket. In addition, initially it took a lot of trial and error to adjust the grind size and strength to get a favorable brew. If you change the kind of beans, then the trial and error begins all over again... not to mention the settings adjustments you must make if you decide to used pre ground coffee. Descaling it was an ongoing issue, using spring water. This coffee maker never seemed to heat the coffee to preferred temperature; this is after pre warming the carafe and my stainless tumbler with boiling water that took an additional 3 minutes to heat in the microwave oven. After a year and 8 months of hating this coffee maker it began to have issues with properly registering the amount of water poured into the water tank (on the digital display). If the display does not register the water poured into it, it will not brew, therefore requiring you to pour more water in until it registers. This may or may not be enough for the amount of fresh grounds, resulting in a weak or too strong of a brew. The fresh water that remains in the tank unregistered only compounds the problem for the next brew cycle. I have wasted so much time and expensive whole beans on this farce. Of course the warranty has expired. I have always been a firm believer in "you get what you pay for", but in this case; absolutely not at all. This coffee maker is an expensive piece of junk. It received 1 star in my rating because 0 is not an option. Buyer beware.
Love the grind & brewing feature. I would definitely recommend this coffee maker to a friend.
This is hands down the best coffee maker I have ever owned. I have had it for over 4 months now. There is a setting that allows you to brew between 1 and 12 cups at a time which I love because sometimes I just need a cup or two and then I'm out the door to work. If I brew more then that and go to work for 9 hours, it's still warm when I get home because the pot keeps the coffee warm for hours and hours after it is brewed without a heater. It also has a setting for how strong you want your coffee. For me, setting it to 5 was perfect. Honestly, you can not go wrong getting this coffee maker.
This is our second Breville purchased for a vacation home. We have had this coffee maker for years and it still grinds the coffee perfectly. You can adjust the strength, time, grind or not, etc.. If you really love your coffee this is the perfect purchase.
Because beans are ground at the time coffee is made, the tadte is excellent. You controll everything so you make the coffee as strong as you want. Easy to use. Probably the best coffee I ever tasted, and at a great price.
Good grind and brew..not as good as my built in Miele but not the price. Coffee is fresh and hot and can be set to brew for when I get up. I would recommend.
I love the sound of grinding coffee in the morning. Just set the timer put the machine together and wake up to the sound and smell of grinding then brewing coffee. I will never go back to Keurig again.
Works really well for grinding beans to various fineness and the custom cup feature is great - however if you want more than one pot in a row you should use pre-ground. The condensation build up int eh basket hopper and the grinds get stuck in the grind chute. The basket holder must be dry when you use the grind feature.
We've tried many high end coffee pots and this one is now our favorite! Perfect cup of coffee, easy to use, easy to clean, can adjust for strength of brew, and the grinder is relatively quiet (by comparison to our others). Wish we had started with this pot first! Highly recommend it!
I am able to make a single cup of freshly ground coffee every morning before my long commute to work. It is a well built machine. Lots of programmable features like coffee strength and cup size.
I have had 3 different brands of coffee maker/grinder units. This Breville is by far the best. It has a nice display that tells you everything you need to know about brewing conditions, water, strength, fill etc... We drink very dark expresso grind which is very oily and can cause the grinder channel to clog. This is the one coffee pot that will not just spill water all over when that eventual clog happens, but tells you to clean the channel, no messes. I love it.
This is my second Breville. I purchased the first one a few years ago, factory refurbished. This is a phenomenal appliance. It definitely has a much quieter burr grinder than the earlier model. I am extremely happy with the quality and craftsmanship of this coffee maker. It keeps the coffee hot after a fresh brew for a very long time. The coffee is consistently delicious. Breville has a life long customer in me.
This is our second Breville grind control coffee maker and we love it. It couldn't be any easier to operate and first thing in the morning, that is very important.
I need this machine. It makes me happy. For the past 3 years, I have used this machine (twice) daily. It grinds my beans for every brew. I brew per cup and its perfect every time. On the occasions that I have used the pot, it manages to keep the coffee drinkable hot for hours - with no heat. I never have to worry about the coffee scalding in the pot. I don't use the included basket anymore, I find to much coffee "sludge" in a pot when using the basket, so I use paper filters.
Elegant and sophisticated look for you kitchen.Grind controller makes it more convenient for your perfect taste of coffee. The coffee pot is double wall and keeps the coffee warm for at least 1 hour.
Nothing beats the smell of fresh ground coffee and the flavor. You can control strength and how fine the coffee is ground.
I really like the flexibility this coffee maker offers because it lets me either brew a single cup of coffee or a whole pot. The ability to tune the brew parameters is awesome.
