My partner and I ordered this bed because the Full we were sleeping on wasn't cutting it anymore. We like the design - it's pretty! The finish was still a little sticky when we received it, but with any luck that'll cure over time.
The bigger problem is that the cleats that hold the bed together weren't properly aligned. We managed to link up three of the four corners fine, but the fourth just *would* *not* *go* *in*.
I wound up using a screw driver to bend the cleat into its proper position. But that kind of defeats the purpose of "tool-free assembly."
About the materials:
The bed frame itself is stained pine. The slats that support the mattress are sawed 3/4" plywood -- plenty strong (plywood is stronger than natural lumber of the same thickness.) But the sides of the plywood are not well sanded. Wear gloves while assembling the bed if you're afraid of splinters.
