I was pleasantly surprised that this rug has surged edges! This is not a cheaply made rug by any means. I purchased it on sale for a great price for my son's room, which we are transitioning from a nursery style room to a big boys room. I wanted something soft to replace a wool rug we also purchased from the site that was scratchy and hard to vacuum due to two different pile heights. The blue color of this rug was a sigh of relief as some reviewers commented on a purple undertone while others commented that it is a true navy...The color is essentially a dark blue , not a dark black-like Navy. I've laid out BM Color Preview paint chip samples and the best color match is 2060-10 , 2064-10 (2061-10 at night with ceiling light ) for those interior design enthusiasts that want to match the color. When the light hits the room, it picks up slightly different shades, hence, the three colors. For your reference, the photo was taken in a north facing room with snow outside at noon, with BM Classic Gray walls and no other colors in the room except white and walnut wood furniture ...so no "colors" to change the undertones . This is a soft and plush rug but I'll be honest, I expected it to be silky soft after reading so many comments about the feel. It's soft but not like a Mongolian fur pillow, in a yarn sort of way with a hint of an acrylic / synthetic like feel, which I suppose is to be expected given that it's polypropylene.
