Purchased this rug to go under my kitchen table, over hard wood floor. After laying it upside down in the foyer for a day, it began to lay flat. Just a note to everyone, the rug is rolled around a very narrow cardboard tube. Just as paper towels or wrapping paper is purchased. The tube gives the rug a "backbone" so that it won't bend in half or become "floppy". The short end that is rolled against this tube will be VERY/EXTREMELY curled. To "uncurl" this end, enlist a partner and the two of you will need to tightly roll the rug in the opposite direction. (whether the rug is right side up, or up side down, just roll against the curl) You won't have to roll it this way across the full length of the rug, just about a foot or so in from the end. Roll the rug as tightly, with as small of a roll, as humanly possible. Once tightly rolled against the curl, the two of you should press down with your palms across the curled end. When you unfurl the rug, it should be lying flat. :O) Just a little trick of the trade.
The rug is beautiful. The colors on my monitor were spot on with the actual rug. EXACTLY what I was hoping for. It is a well made, high quality rug. I do not have a rug pad or anything under the rug. It is heavy enough that it isn't going anywhere. Plus, with the kitchen table on top of it, I couldn't go anywhere even if we tried to slide it around on the wooden floor. It doesn't slip or move around even a fraction of an inch.
With this said, I will agree with the previous reviewer who stated that it seems that the rug is "stretched in the middle". I do notice, if I really look for them, slight "waves" in the center of the rug. However, because the rug is under our kitchen table, which has two pedestal type legs underneath, they are not "in your face" noticeable. I know that they are they, but I can't really see that they are they. No one else is aware of them, and no one else has made a comment. However, I am not familiar/friends with/ or related to the type of person who comes into my home and "inspects" things. I can't think of anyone I know who looks under a table to inspect for anything....if they did, they don't have to come back. (just sayin'....)
This carpet is very comfortable under foot. The pile is thick/high enough to have substance and be soft, with being too thick/high. For example, our table has chairs with rollers on the legs. Even with the rug under the chairs, we are able to pull them out to sit down, and scoot back in. I was concerned about this as we have four kids, but they don't have any issues rolling the chairs back and forth.
The rug vacuums nicely and is probably one of the nicest rugs in our home. If you are familiar with IKEA rugs, I like my Great Offer Stock rug better. It was even delivered a day sooner than expected! While it is a heavy rug, I purchased the 6'6" X 9'8", I was able to carry it inside by myself when it was delivered.
So, if you are contemplating purchasing this rug, I would say "GO FOR IT"! You won't be disappointed.
Hope this helps.
