I've had Dish and Directv for the last 15 years, and I don't miss them since I got Tablo. This works flawlessly! I watch shows that I've recorded at home while I am away from home on my phone or computer. I don't miss my $100+ monthly Dish bill one bit!

  • The ultimate Cable Cord Cutter TOOL!

Relatively easy to set up. I used an old 1 terabyte drive. I already purchased Roku 4. This thing is absolutely INCREDIBLE! The three areas that are stunning? Selection, Convenience, Roku 4 compatibility. Imagine the secret the cable companies do not share with you. NUMEROUS free local stations are not carried on the cable feed. What does this mean? When I set the tuner to stream 2 weeks of shows from all local stations? I had 111 sitcoms to choose from. From the rifleman and gunsmoke to the latest shows on abc, nbc and CBS. The online schedule has a beautiful interface with complete artwork for movies and tv shows alike. The views can be sorted by station, genre, and only shows you have recorded. A fact the cable companies do not share? There are exponentially more free and better options with the Tablo 4. When combined with Roku 4 the choices are endless. THIS DEVICE STREAMS TO YOUR WIFI network. No cables to your tv. The Roku 4 connects automatically. Click the Tablo Channel on Roku. From there you can choose to stream live tv via a cable box type schedule, or you can view saved programming. Connect a table to Tablo on you home network. Travel anywhere in the world. Connect to wifi or the internet via a phone provider. KABOOM! You can watch locally broadcasted programming from home instantly. OSU football anywhere in the world. Go Bucks! Want to watch a movie you saved on the home Tablo? Stream it via the internet, anywhere in the world, at any time of the day or night. Want to watch broadcast television? Stream it via the Tablo 4. Do you hate local news fluff pieces? I do. I record the 11 oclock news. Then the next day watch and forward through the fluff on Roku 4 channel or my tablet via the internet. The Roku 4 compatability is incredible. It just works. Beautifully with a clean interface. The fast forward on the Tablo is perfect. Slow so you don't forward beyond the end of a commercial. The large artwork enables accurate selection of programs. The included star rating of movies helps me dodge the dogs. CBS online wants 5.99 a month for their programs on Roku4. With the Tablo I record nbc, cbs, abc, fox and 9 other local stations absolutely free of monthly charge. Some other thoughts in closing? Get a 2 terabyte drive for the Tablo 4. This will enable 1000 hours of hidef recording. Some of the negative reviews complain about the startup costs. Some of the reviews compare this device to something that connects directly to a TV? Wrong thoughts completely. I am saving 1800 dollars a year by owning the device. The 500 - 600 dollar start up cost of the Roku 4, 4 tuner tablo and antennae are recovered in the first 3 months of savings. Understand that this new viewing experience is LIGHT YEARS beyond anything cable offers. Programming on Roku 4 from Japan and around the world with thousands of channels. Local programming with hundreds and hundreds of options. None of it available on Cable for 1800 dollars a year. Thanks for reading. God Speed. Thank goodness for Tablo 4 and Roku. (The tablo 4 can record 4 programs at once compared to tablo 2 that records 2 at once. In my case I only had one scheduling conflict with the Tablo 4. By far the best choice for me was the Tablo 4. Only a 100 dollar price difference.) :)

  • Great Video Recorder

I purchased the 4-tuner model in February. Had no problem setting it up (I used one of the recommended hard drives). It does great, is viewable on all my PCs and my phone and tablet. The recent firmware update improved use on the Roku 3 immensely. With an amplified planar antenna in my kitchen, I receive about 68 channels, of which I have selected about 45. (I live about 29 miles from all the TV channel antennas in my (Houston) area. Highly recommended.
