I purchased two of the Icy Dock adapter to fill the fill the four 5.25 slots in an iStar server case. They are not tray-less, but work well in my server and I won't be pulling them out unless the HDD fails. Trays actually provide a better drive connection to the back-plate. The end result was 6 2tb drives (total 12 tb) in a 4u server case, that can be services from the front without pulling out the server. The iStar case I have has 3 more 5.25 slots and I am contemplation purchasing a 4x3.5 for 3x5.25 Icy dock when I need expansion. The fan on the unit produce average noise levels. For a server that is in another room that's fine, but if you were to use them in a home theater pc (HTPC), I would change them out to a silent fan. The fan is mounted behind the units and are easily remove and have a 3 pin connector. The back-plate has 2 sata power connectors and 3 sata drive connectors, one for each drive. The are really direct connect drive and the unit raid or pooling or multi drive over a single sata connection. So, if you add one of these you need 2 power connectors and 3 sata cables. Icy Dock built a quality product the works well.
Had this router/switch combo for about 1 month now. First step (as always) was to update the firmware. Downloaded the file, uploaded to the RV325, reset it: done. Next set up the network itself - set up everything including the DMZ in about 10 minutes. One thing you do need to be aware of with this machine, is you need to reset it after you have made changes or they are not being executed. As a more industrial grade router that is to be expected but it is not obvious if you have been using the more consumer grade which nags about performing a reset. The switch component is fast and also no effort to set up. I am quite impressed with the set and forget functionality of the RV325 and would highly recommend it if you want a non-wireless router.
I needed a rack for my home office but didn't have the space for a full 42U height rack. I looked at serveral options but this one stood out for its adjustable depth, optional casters and TrippLite's reputation for quality. This rack certainly did not disappoint us in any way. It was easy to assemble, easy to adjust to the depth we wanted and most important was easy to move even when loaded. We keep it in a corner due to space concerns so the ability to easily pull it forward to get to the back of the servers was very important for us. All our equipment went in easily and the rack was adjusted to the depth of our longest server. This rack with servers and all network equipment is about the same depth as a 25" desk so it flows well with the rest of the office. The clearly printed U numbers on the front and back made it really easy to line equipment. There are plenty of cage nuts included as well but most of our equipment rails just snapped in. Did I mention how overbuilt this thing is. The nuts and bolts are huge! There is no wobble and I am sure it could easily handle much more than the rated weight. We are very happy with this rack and when we expand we are definitely going with another one of these.
This was exactly what I was looking for. Just needed a cabinet for some networking equipment in an office. This came assembled and ready to hang with three access door with keys. Only wish it came with some shelves.
