Brother SE425 Computerized Sewing and Embroidery Machine Factory Refurbished

I have owned this embroidery machine for more than five years. The embroidery feature is somewhat intimidating but doable if you proceed step-by-step. There are many inexpensive and varied fonts and designs available once you get the hang of it. It's not a machine that you can do heavy-cuty sewing like jeans and upholstery and drapery fabric, but I don't think it's intended to be. I made the mistake of putting a drop of oil on the race after it began making a scraping sound, and am now trying to avoid a repair bill. Don't let any oil near it!

I wasn't sure if this would work very well, being refurbished. But it has been my go-to sewing machine since I bought it. I hardly ever use my old Singer anymore.

My daughter begged me for a poor quality toy sewing machine - for not that much more money, we got her this high quality machine she’s been using for years now to make pillows and lately face masks. Never ended up using the embroidery feature, but there’s still time!

This machine does a great job at sewing. Its embroidery is not spectacular though. I found it basically impossible to do anything other than basic text when using the embroidery hoop. I was excited to try using the USB port to load patterns from my computer, but after a bit of messing around with it I never successfully got it to work. The touchscreen is pretty cheap but functional. Swapping threads is slightly more involved than I would expect from such a modern machine, and I've had trouble filling the bobbin a few times. This sounds like a negative review but in reality, this machine is excellent at traditional sewing, and I'd definitely recommend it to someone looking for an entry level machine with some light text embroidery.

This machine is really great. I especially like that it is a sewing and embroidery machine in one. It's pretty easy to figure out if you read the instructions a time or 2. Does pretty well for medium sized projects, but if it's too small and it needs a lot of overlapping stitches in one area, alot of times the needle will get stuck and break.

The machine seems to work fine. It has many functions, but since I don't sew that frequently, I often have to refer back to the instruction book when I use it.

Bought it thinking I knew how to sew. For someone who doesn't know how to sew, it was actually quite easy to figure out. Great product! Good quality!

I am a beginner and love that this switches from sewing to embroidery and vice versa. Easy to use and understand. The embroidery is just beautiful.

Brother machines are great. This is a beginner machine, easy to operate. It is high quality, light weight and does a terrific job sewing and embroidering. Pricing is very reasonable. Would definitely recommend for a beginner who wants to get into embroidery or do smaller projects. Designs can be downloaded from the internet in 4 x 4 or less. The best part is push one button and the machine cuts the threads-top and bottom. No more coming unthreaded. Great. Sewing is very smooth. Absolutely love it!

Great machine, easy to set up and easy to use. A lot of great features.

My mom loves this machine. She has learned to embroidery and now everyone gets gifts that have been embroidered.
