I have a difficult time finding footwear as a result of residual issues from paralysis which require that I wear AFO's (essentially braces with a footplate from toes to heel and then a strut support piece from the plate up to my knee) - SO -finding shoes to accommodate this is a real quest. This is my 2nd pair of Clarks Whistle model boot and I love how they look, wear and last! The extra ankle support they provide is an unexpected "extra" and I would think even for "normal" wearers it would be a plus. The leather is beautiful and easy to maintain. I have one pair for barn chores and the 2nd pair for daily wear. In spite of the daily abuse the barn pair receive, they clean right up with a good scrubbing with "Murphy's Oil Soap" and a fresh application of "Beesbutter". I am sold on these boots. I do wish that the boot strap was of the size that it was actually possible to insert one's finger in to utilize it rather than just ornamental. I see a third pair (one of the colors) in my future. One has to purchase these before they are discontinued or replaced by something that isn't as wonderful.
