Spicey luxury...
This is the second set I've purchased and used with an all-season duvet insert. The first set was BLUE, This set is RED. Both times I was startled at how vivid the colors are. If you look them up in enough places you can find an accurate photo but never all in the same picture.
The blue is much truer to the photos, absolutely gorgeous, watery, and calming, running the gamut from a crisp clean faintly aqua blue (not powder or baby) to a true deep navy. The accent colors are wet and dry sandy browns, and clean white. I pair the set with deep true navy or creamy vanilla sheets depending on the season.
The RED falls in the spicey tones range, more brick or Chinese red with dark olive (not grey as the photos depict), warm camel-gold, and crisp white accents. The interest here is that the dark olive and brick red blend visually in places and present a faux brown (chocolate) that makes the white accents pop. The red and gold overlap in spots to create a deep fiery orange (cayenne) that adds heat.
Because the existing drapes and art in the room are in the red range, I've paired the RED set with a crimson dust ruffle and sheets. But the possibilities are good for dark olive, camel gold, even white, orange, or chocolate accessories. Dobby stripes would look high-end. Damask or print would look BoHo. Simple solids are transitional and right on trend.
So much for looks. The sets feel as good as they look. Quality is consistent from one color to the next. Buttons and holes are well sewn. Product is nicely folded and well-packed. Arrived in timely fashion for Christmastime. Went on the bed right out of the box and not a single wrinkle.
In an era where the digits just keep getting higher on thread count, 300 keeps the price way down and is right on target for bedding "outerwear". The sets arrive crisp and present as such. The first wash softens the pieces considerably and they present more casually. If you want the crisp back, you'll need to iron. Personally, I like the softer beachy look.
Overall I love these sets will probably end-up with one in each color. The schemes are rich enough to make your mouth water, the pieces are well made, heavy enough to be cozy, soft enough to make you hit the snooze a second time, just plain lovely.
