I've been sleeping on these sheets nightly for 3 weeks now. Out of the box the sheets don't feel that soft and after 4 washes they are slightly softer but I was hoping for better. There are some very good things about these sheets (very deep fitted sheet pockets, full elastic, great looking stripe pattern, rich colors, big king pillow cases (w/ King sets) but be honest, you're buying 800 thread count sheets because you want them to FEEL great. These sheets to have a substantial feeling to them, but they aren't anywhere near as soft as I was hoping (or have felt on friends sets). I thought I did my research before hand (these sheets use single ply, long staple Egyptian yarns which should be a recipe for a great fabric) but I did a little more research after I found myself disappointed by the softness and found that high thread counts can be a little deceptive. With a standard 1-over 1-under (percale) weave, 400 tc is the max possible with the best cotton. Yup, there it is! Thread counts are a marketing gimmick. Companies achieve higher thread counts by inserting picks into the weft which can leave the fabric feeling less than soft. That said, I've read that there are great feeling high thread count sheets out there...these aren't those. But for such a great price you still can't go wrong.Oh, one more thing. I think the stripe pattern is causing some of the roughness. The glossy stripe looks sateen and is soft, but the dull side of the stripe is rough! Maybe go with the same brand in sateen rather than the damask stripe.
Very nice fabric. Launders well. Fits perfectly over 14 inch mattress plus 4 inch feather bed. Will buy again.
I loved these sheets. They are comfortable to sleep on and I would love to purchase another set. The fitted sheet fits my deep mattress perfectly and the top sheet is long enough to tuck under and stay. It is also wide enough to to have about 18 inches on each side of the bed. Best sheets I've ever owned.
Over a year ago I purchased the 1000 tc for our king size bed. They were fabulous. I wanted a spare for the king bed and decided to go with the 800 tc for two reasons. I wanted to get the stripe and the reviews indicated that they have deep pockets. The description says up to 18 inches deep but my mattress measures 22 inches deep and these sheets covered them completely!! Also they have elastic all around the fitted sheet. They are heavy and somewhat soft but with a few washes I am sure they will soften up just like my first set did making them a wonderful comfy sleeping experience. Additionaly, their weight doesn't seem any different to me than the 1000 tc. I liked these so much, I bought a queen-size set for my guest room.
We have several sets of sheets and these are by far my favorite! I love the feel of slipping into bed when these sheets are on. They have very deep pockets and have never come off of our mattress which is about 15 inches deep. Love these sheets!
Wonderful smooth crisp sheet set . Deep pocket fit over 4 inch topper and pillow top mattress easily. Love them so much.
We previously ordered 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets from Great Offer Stock years ago, and have been very pleased with them. Those have stood up well, considering that up to now, we've only had three sets of sheets to rotate through on our queen bed over the past decade or so. Now two of the sets were getting a bit 'thin', so we decided to order some replacements. These new striped sheets also seem to be exceptional quality -- very well-made and good material. Fitted sheets have deep enough pockets to go over an air-bed mattress, plus a 1-inch memory foam topper and a quilted bed pad. They are quite smooth and sleep 'cool', enabling 'all-weather' comfort with a light over-blanket in winter, and just a top sheet in the summer (we are in NC, so summers are quite warm here and winters aren't too bad). I can recommend the quality of the sheets and pillowcases; the 'finish' is good on the seams and the corner pockets of the fitted sheet appear to be double-stitched and quite strong. We will order more when these begin to get 'thin', but that probably won't be for awhile.
As others have written, these are very heavy sheets. The fabric feels extraordinarily thick to the hand and is, plain and simple, heavier than any sheet you've ever felt. The heft is great for a cold climate. but I don't think I'd want this much weight in my sheets if I lived in the south. I am disappointed in the stiff, starchy texture of these sheets. I waited a year to review these sheets because I expected them to grow far less stiff with multiple washes. I am disappointed to report that is not the case. The sheets were super stiff on day one and they remain that way even now. i kind of wonder if different production runs have different degrees of softness, because a few of the other reviewers say that their sheets are soft -- that is certainly not the case for the ones I received. On the plus side, these sheets easily fit the deepest bed, so they're great for pillow-top mattresses. The sheets accommodate our California King pillow top mattress perfectly, actually with an inch or more room to spare. Unfortunately the stitching in one of the corners ripped out fairly soon after we bought the sheets, which I believe was due to a manufacturing defect since fitting them to bed required no stress or strain. The split seam was readily repaired by the local tailor, but it was a nuisance to deal with. I wouldn't buy these 800 thread count sheets again. We're much happier with the 400 thread count cotton linens from Great Offer Stock, which are much softer and nicer to sleep on.
I'm an average guy, modest income, enjoy a great value and a good night's rest, sensitive skin, love striped sheets and the pewter color. Before purchasing these sheets, I read many of the reviews on this site and was concerned about comments describing odors from the dies, and a rough and scratchy texture. I have sensitive skin, and there are many sheets and materials that I find uncomfortable and irritating to touch; these sheets have been very comfortable. They are heavier and thicker than most, but they seem to be made very well and I hope they prove as durable as they appear. I purchased the pewter color, and they do have an odor (apparently from the coloring dies) that disappeared after 3 wash cycles. I have a 14 and 16 inch queen and king mattresses and the fitted sheets fit perfectly. As a disclaimer, I have never purchased a sheet set that costs more than ****; so I have no idea what a *** set of sheets feels like. I am extremely satisfied. A single yard of average material at the fabric store costs *** per yard... it's an exceptional value to purchase these quality sheets with free shipping and no tax for less than ***.
Love these sheets! Excellent quality, thick but soft. Washed them a dozen times already and no fading! Fitted sheets fits fine on my 15 inch mattress! I highly recommend these sheets!
good winter sheets - very heavy - and launders up good - could have been about 6 inches longer
These sheets are great - the fabric is solid and a heavier than most sheets but that's due to the higher threadcount. However the sheets become softer as they are used and/or with each washing, This is the 3rd set of sheets that I've bought & they are well worth the price. I'll never fo back to 500 threads/inch again.
These are very comfortable sheets and very true that they are deep pockets. I have a 14" foam mattress, a kind of down fluffy mattress pad and these sheets fit great! No tugging at the corners when putting the fitted sheet on. I do wish the flat sheet was slightly larger as I like to tuck my sheets very tightly and the flat one is not wide enough to do so, the length, however, is fine. Also the other great thing is the stripes in them assist in putting them on correctly! I don't know how many times I had to change the orientation of my old ones because a mattresses are not square! This feature alone has saved me a lot of grief! I just ordered my second set!
I ordered these sheets because they said that they fit an 18" mattress. They are short by about 3 inches
These sheets are just what I was looking for, thick, sturdy and elegant. The contour pockets are plenty deep enough for my thick mattress and 2 inch memory foam topper. I'm ordering a third set today.
I am buying another set. My first set is white. It stays white and doesn't disintegrate when I accidentally use too much bleach. It hasn't pilled, stretched, or torn. Some have said the sheets aren't soft. I believe the thickness of the sheet provides a medium weight drape that I prefer over a lighter feeling softness. Of course sheets are all about preference. They aren't as deep as I need. I had to remove my 3 inch foam topper from my double sided pillow-top mattress. (I suffer from Princess and Pea Syndrome, ha). The sheet does fit nicely on the double pillow-top mattress alone. In all, the sheets I received have been used for over a year with at least 52 washings and still look and feel new. The feel of the material has become softer, but the sheet has retained it's body. I hope I love this second set just as much.
These sheets are thick and heavy. I'm always looking for sheets like those old heavy cotton sheets my Grandmother used. If your preference is for light weight sateen sheets, these won't make you happy. They're incredibly heavy and should last forever.Excellent quality and after a few washings in warm or cold water and a dryer set on low, they become very soft and comfy. They don't seem to wrinkle much at all, especially if you take them out of the dryer and immediately put them on the bed. The flat sheet is more generous in size than most so they stay tucked in. Pillowcases are also sized well so getting the pillow in isn't a struggle.I got the pewter color and they're a little darker than the picture. Definitely grey without the green cast that shows on my computer screen.GREAT sheets especially if you like them heavy and soft.
very scratchy sheets. had to take them off the bed, as they caused a skin rash like 180-TC XXX sheets might cause. too much hassle and cost to return them, so i will wash and wash them with lots of fabric softener and hope for the best. they are otherwise nice, big sheets with a generous drop and length to the full sheet and very deep pockets on the fitted sheet, accommodating my 17-inch mattress easily after the first wash. the pillowcases are closer to queen-sized than standard (not a problem) and the color (ivory) is perfect. i have 400TC and 600TC sheets which are silky and soft from the 1st wash, which cost far less than these and which i will purchase again when i need to replace my sheets. i was looking forward to luxurious sheets and after spending more, i've had to return to my old sheets.
These are fantastic sheets - thick and soft, almost creamy feeling. The construction is excellent, so after two months and several washing, no worry about seams coming undone or elastic stretching. Our mattress is super thick, 16 inches, and these fit without a problem. The ice blue color is lovely. My hubby even commented on how nice the sheets are when I put them on the bed and said we should get another set. I highly recommend!
These sheets are soft to the touch and comfortable on the bed. They wash well and have a wide variety of color options. They fit my deeper mattress.
