Hi! I’m Christina, my friends call me Teens. I have been with Great Offer Stock for 3.5 years. I like to say I was trained as a stylist from the time I was 4 when I went on my first installation job. My mother is an interior designer and let me turn my closet into Barbie’s dream house using her fabric samples. I was moodboarding rooms before I knew what it meant. My biggest tip for styling a room is to add a classic piece with something unexpected.

Winter can be cold and dreary but that doesn’t mean your interior space needs to be! Want to keep your bedroom cozy for winter? Great Offer Stock Stylist Christina Rodgers has written five tips on how to decorate your bedroom for winter.

1

Add Cozy Color Balance

Adding bright colors (reds, oranges, & yellows) in contrast with winter’s cooler colors (blues & greys) helps to distribute warmth throughout your bedroom. This also creates movement to guide your eyes around the space. You might tie in these colors with a rug or pillow covers.

Consider refreshing your lighting. Choosing a new pendant or nightstand lamps can reinvent your winter bedroom by creating warm ambient lighting. When evening comes, light a few candles and rely on your nightstand lamps for a snug, homey vibe.

2

Play Up the Soft Stuff

We all crave comfort in winter. Mix hard metals, like nightstand lamps, with soft, welcoming touches, such as bedding or an upholstered headboard. Contrasting items help your pieces stand out and not compete against one another. Another winter bedroom idea? Try an updated bench at the foot of your bed. It’s a cost effective way to cozy up your bedroom and make it feel new. A cushiony upholstered top paired with iron legs will show how opposites attract and adds more seating options.

3

Mix In Luxe Textures

Using a variety of textures creates interest for a cozy winter bedroom. A basket woven pendant mixed with the hard textures of metal and wood adds softness to your room. Luxe fabrics, like velvet, linen, and flannel, make your space more inviting and keep your bedroom warm in winter.

One way to bring in these textures is by adding a reading nook in your bedroom. By layering a new texture, such as a fur area rug, you create a new section of your room that feels separate but still a part of your space. It’s the perfect place to curl up on a snowy day. Check out our guide to Reading Nook Ideas for more.

4

Get Artsy With Proportions

No wall space for art? No problem. Smaller art pieces leaned on top of a large dresser adds depth and personality. When you’re decorating your bedroom for winter, choose one oversized piece. This creates a focal point. It can be a large pendant or an oversized art piece leaning against the wall. For winter bedroom decor, think snowy landscapes.

5

Switch Up the Seasons

Just like your wardrobe, it sparks joy to transition your bedroom from winter to spring. Take away the heavy flannel duvet and add a light quilt for those warmer spring nights. Fold up your fleece blanket and start playing with pastel colored blankets to create a fresh color scheme. Check out our guide to the Best Bedding for Every Season for spring colors and materials to consider.

Now for my favorite part, adding fresh flowers! Bringing a natural element into your space creates softness, warmth and seasonality. For instance, tree branches for a winter bedroom and ranunculus for spring. Silk plants make an excellent substitution.
