- Fresh Linens
New, soft sheets make anyone feel like royalty and are always appreciated by house guests. Also, remember to keep your guests cozy year round. A fleece blanket is perfect in the cooler winter months and a light cotton coverlet is ideal in the warmer summer months.
- The Perfect Bed
There may be nothing better when you are traveling than a comfortable bed; sometimes the best thing is a simple good night's sleep. The good news is that you can provide your guests a luxurious bed without replacing the mattress. A memory foam topper is a great addition to any mattress, even those that are worn but still functional.
- Personal Space
Neither guests nor hosts want to spend every minute engaged in activities; sometimes guests just want to have some time to themselves. Add a comfortable arm chair to the guest room to create a cozy place to relax. Place your favorite books or magazines out as well, so your guests will have something to browse.

A small lamp by the bed can make all the difference. Your guests are able to read at night, and it allows them to turn a light on or off without having to get out of bed. A simple accent like a vase of fresh flowers or a bowl of fruit adds a charming finishing touch to any guest room. Add a carafe of water and a glass to the nightstand, so your guest doesn't have to fumble in the dark for a midnight drink. A small bottle of lotion in the bathroom or a cookie or mint on the pillow may seem like small, if not insignificant, details, but any traveler will welcome the thought.
