  • Supplies

Most teachers will tell you they never have enough dry erase markers, permanent markers, or sticky notes. Create a gift basket full of these, and other essential schoolroom supplies. They'll be grateful to stay away from the office supply store for a while, and for a gift they know they'll use.

  • Gift Card

Teachers have lives outside the classroom; help them enjoy dinner, a cup of coffee, or their favorite hobby with a gift card. Knowing what they like and enjoy can help you choose a card that fits their interests, or go with a gift card from your own favorite restaurant or spa to give as a recommendation.

  • Volunteer

Even if you work, being willing to help your child's teacher for a few hours may be the best gift they get all year. Offer your assistance grading papers, organizing the supply closet, or changing up the classroom decor. Get creative and print out a voucher that's good for two hours or a day of help doing anything they need.

  • Tote or Handbag

Teachers have a lot of papers, folders, binders, and other "stuff" to carry around. Give them a fashionably functionaltote to carry it all in style. Giving them something they will use is much better than giving them something that may clutter up their space.

  • Stationery

Teachers send a lot of notes during the school year. Give them some pretty stationery, personalized notepads, or blank greeting cards to keep them stocked for the duration of the school year.

Gift Tip:

No matter what gift you give to your child's teacher, include a heartfelt note that thanks them for the work they do. It doesn't need to be long, but any teacher would appreciate a little recognition of their efforts throughout the school year. If there was a topic that your child struggled with or a specific way the teacher went out of their way to assist your child, be sure to express your gratitude.
