I recently purchased this rug, and I'm in love. I had a tough time deciding between a more modern, geometric look and a vintage, traditional look. This rug is the perfect combination. The only possible negative I could see is that it is quite thin. However, after reading the description, that is what I expected. I plan on just using a non-skid pad, and think that'll work well. It's a beautiful piece and looks perfect with my vintage gold sofa.

This kilim is a unique piece of world art that will enhance your living space. Kilims are known as pile-less, flat-weave floor coverings; the design is also known as slit-weave. This kilim is made of 100-percent wool, and pure vegetable dyes. The knot count for this kilim is 200. This kilim has a geometric pattern in shades of gray, ivory, and black.Product Features:

Story Behind the Art:
This particular kilim was made in the Varanasi region of India, by the Bhadohi village weavers. These beautiful designs are achieved by interweaving the various colors of the vertical and horizontal strands of the kilim. The vegetable dyes most commonly used in these flat-weave kilims are madder, the root of a spindly bush which grows abundantly in many carpet-producing area which is used to create a red color. Walnut peel is used for dark brown, pomegranate peel for light brown, and sparak which is a wild flower from the steppes, used for yellow. Due to the handmade nature of our kilims, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep your kilim looking new for years to come. Herat Oriental has been providing beautiful, authentic, handmade rugs and kilims to Worldstock for over 10 years. Worldstock has given us the opportunity to create jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers, which helps them to greatly support their families. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As we grow with Worldstock, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
