Bought this rod/ reel to fly with me to Colorado in checked bag. As a cheap/ basic rod it met my needs. Used one of my Ross reels, though the reel in this kit (if loaded with a good quality backing and line) would suffice. It will never replace my bamboo or 2 piece graphite rods that I bring when travelling by car, but I enjoyed fishing with it.

A little had to put together in the dark

Bought this to keep in my car just in case the need to fish arises- it does often. Basic combo that works fine
