do you have a drill? As you might expect, this cat tree comes unassembled. It looks very nice when you finally get it together, but as with most things that come in pieces, It needs a little mechanical help. The holes that the screws fit into are all not in the right places. Drat! I don't have a drill but I managed to pull the longest corded piece over far enough to attach it to the hole in the shelf. It gives it a sort of ultra-modern look. It is hard to tell in the picture but the beige looking thing on the bottom left is a box with holes in it and there are 2 balls that you can put in it so kitty can play snag the ball. The shelves are covered in a very soft, cozy fabric. Oh, one more thing. The shelves are all the same size but if you look on the bottom you will see that one of them has 3 holes instead of 2. That is the top shelf where the springy puff ball toy attaches. It comes with illustrated instructions.

Platforms too small I have had this for a couple weeks now and my cat has barely used it. This would be fine for a small cat or kitten but the platforms are too small for large or adult cats. My cat cannot use the top circle because he does not fit in it.

meh the cat plays on it but hes not really into a lota things. putting it together was easy except for the fact that i have to put it in a corner or itll fall. one of the legs that should be the same length as the second step is in fact longer to the whole thing tilts.

Depends on how the mfg.. service is! Got it this morning and my 5 month old kitten loves it! Unfortunately, the "busy box was broken... not in shipping obviously, it is smashed in between two of the top holes and should have been seen during packing. The company is not open on Saturdays so I have to wait until Monday to call and ask for a replacement box. I really do not see why the company would not honor my request. My kitten is very active and the busy box is no challenge for her. she had the balls out within minutes of giving it to her. She pushes them out the side holes. I put some of her odd shaped stuffed toys in there but she knew where to push them out instantly. When we get the new box I plan to try covering up the side holes or somehow make them smaller.... Other than that, we LOVE it.

You might want to go with something a bit larger. One of my kitties is 14 lbs and I would say he is as big as I would go for this. I have it right up against an open window so they can see outside all the time. What he likes to do is launch off the higher platforms and the whole thing bangs against the window sill. He also barely fits when lounging around on the platforms. My other two, smaller cats are perfect for it.

My 21-lb. fat cat fits on this, but it is not the sturdiest. It can only be tightened up so many times before becoming permanently wobbly from his jumping up on it. He LOVES the top perch, and even though he's a bit too large, he makes it work, lying there in the sun with his back leg hanging off. It won't last forever, but this item was a fantastic price & I know I've gotten my money's worth because I did not have hundreds to spend on cat furniture.
