A few days after our last lake trip with both dogs, they began to bite and scratch themselves. We couldn't find anything (bites, ticks, fleas etc.) on either one - a big, lanky blond mutt and a long-haired black and tan dachshund. They were miserable! Our vet suggested this specific oil because of the quality. She gives it to her pets. She couldn't find anything wrong with their bodies or skin either. (Blood work and all!)
We bought some. It really smells like "fish", BUT it's hardly noticeable to humans unless you put your nose to the bottle. (I did...) I squirted the appropriate amount, based on weight, in with their food. They gobbled it up! One dog is pretty picky, so I was thrilled. I did have to lessen the recommended dose for them because it gave them loose poop after 4 days. After the 7-8 day period, we all noticed a huge difference in their scratching and their coats were very soft.
This is recommended over most treats for skin and coats because it isn't as fattening and it is not full of harmful ingredients. We keep the bottle in the refrigerator door. (It needs to be refrigerated.) They know when I get the bottle out because they go nuts! I highly recommend this supplement. Picky pets love it!
