Can only be 5x5.
In the past, we've had kennels where the panels were independent of one another and could be used against walls, etc. for larger configurations. This unit can only be a self-contained square. Also, the chain link has VERY sharp edges that come to a point as opposed to being blunt. We ended up covering the unit with a grommeted tarp, and lining it with poultry netting along the bottom to prevent potential injury. Further, the chain link is cheaply made, comes apart easily, bends easily, and is quite flimsy. The framework is a bit sturdier, but the finish scratches horribly, and I would not anticipate this lasting long. The latch is very stiff and difficult to maneuver. This is actually a plus for us as our weimeraner can open most latches, but many would find it cumbersome and annoying. Easy to put together an will serve its purpose for now, but I would definitely spend a little more for a decent kennel in the future.
