Searched extensively for red and black persian/ oriental/ traditional rugs before deciding on this one. We wanted a living room rug to lay over our light-colored carpet to protect it from pet stains when, not if, those occur with our four pets. We believe the pattern and colors will camouflage stains, and it's an easy-clean, low-maintenance olefin fiber. Many other 'red' rugs are overly bright, but even my hubbie approved of this just-right burgundy. The 8' square size fits almost perfectly within the footprint of our L-shaped living room sofa. Safavieh's often an expensive brand, but this particular rug was priced much lower on Oversight than the exact same item (same brand, size and color) at all other sites I searched. Also, O's price included fast FedEx delivery. A nice surprise when the rug arrived was its very decent thickness; I'd been concerned it might turn out to be thin and easily moved on top of our existing carpet, but this is not the case. Curled edges from shipping flattened within days from its own weight. 3 weeks since, we're very happy with our rug. Just after purchasing it, of course, I read that rugs shouldn't be laid down over carpet, which was just we'd intended to do, because they'd shift constantly, which would be annoying. However, this rug is heavy enough that I just need to shuffle my feet across it every couple of days to flatten it down. No worries.
