I recently received a ballistic look rolling computer / catalog case. I've used it once and I am impressed so far.
I work at a college and needed a case that would stand up to holding loads of files and having to walk around campus. Many of the sidewalks are not smooth and I need to get from one building to another quickly in time for my next class whenever I have back-to-back classes. I like the catalog style because it opens from the top and lets me see at a glace which files I need to get. It appears slim yet it accommodates a pretty hefty amount of files I need to haul around. The case closes nicely and securely. The handle is much more substantial than my last rolling case and looks like it will hold up better because it is made of thick plastic material. The handle has a nice feel when I lift it. It has dividers in the large case space that could make it easy to divide your files but I didn't really need it as I have so many files right now. However, with less files, this will be handy.
I particularly like the smoothness of the wheels. I was able to navigate different surfaces, turned well and it generally handled itself well over different type surfaces, both inside buildings and outside. I gave it a good run for the money as I had to take it on sidewalks, some of which had poorly maintained surfaces, walkways with different types of tile, ramps that sometimes had bumps and other issues. It seems to roll much smoother than the rolling case I just replaced because the handle broke. This rolling case has a telescoping handle that will be it's weal point like other rolling cases. However, I find that it seems a little bit better made than my last case. I also found it lengthened to a higher position than my last case and, behold, this case no longer hits the back of my foot. What a relief! I always found that to be disconcerting and very annoying. This is probably one of the best selling points of this case. I am 5'5" so you have a reference point. I can tell you that the telescoping handle is definitely higher than my prior case.
The case comes with a sleeve for a notebook that is up to 16". I like this size because it will fit my notebook. Many come with cases to fit 5'4" notebooks when I own 5'6' notebook. It also provides hooks to hang files. I don't use them right now but they are good to have. I do like the large zippered compartment for me to keep smaller items. I already found uses and it well used. The pocket seems to provide sufficient size to put items you may need that you don't want lost in the larger compartment.
I only gave it 4 stars because I don't know how it will hold up. However, it looks like it was put together better than my last rolling case and appears to have good workmanship. All in all, I like this purchase and I would recommend this rolling case, particularly if you have a lot of files to haul around.
