In my experience, Susan, nope! The weave is very "tight" in feel because it has a very short pile. I have not seen shedding, and the border work keeps all the threads together on the edging. This does not look or feel like an Ikea-style rug which, in my experience, has shed. I have cats who are trained to claw at tightly woven, medium pile rugs (ikea-style) which shed with that type of use. They are not attracted to this carpet at all, except to roll all over it because they like the feel on their fur. That being said, the material used is typical "acrylic-type" rug, so baby may get rug burns if s/he is really belly-flopping on it! :) I bought a second, identical smaller size for the adjoining space, so I like it very much.

The rug does not shed. We love it. Definitely needs pad underneath to add to the thickness. Ours is gray, with pops of yellow and a brighter almost teal/cornflower blue mix. Looks fantastic. A great addition to our family room.

I use Resolve carpet cleaners to spot clean. If you need the entire carpet cleaned, a Bissell steam cleaner works well. Otherwise, getting it professionally cleaned would be the easiest option. I think most dry cleaners would tackle it or a carpet cleaning company.

I would not use a rug in the dining room, because spills are inevitable. Also it is harder to slide chairs in and out under the table over a rug, when sitting or standing. Hardwood floors are better. That said, This rug is good looking, feels good under bare feet, and is inexpensive enough that you can throw it away if it becomes stained..

This is just my opinion, but the ivory to my eyes is a cream-white color. It's very light, I had to return it because my grandkids are so hard on rugs and it would get noticeably dirty in no time. It's ironic that it's so light bc most people complain rugs they buy online have much darker & drabber tones than shown in the photos. Also, I thought this rug would go great with gray walls. Again, to my eyes it appeared to have some gray tones in it.
