The Media Stand shipped in large, very heavy box- you knew you were getting wood and not fiberboard. Packing was good and no pieces missing or damaged. Directions were better than most and went together easily- Looks like a more expensive piece of furniture that you would buy in a furniture store, not put together yourself. The most difficult "put together" was attaching the little magnet pieces that keep the doors shut. Very, very pleased with the purchase and would highly recommend it.
This is a beautiful piece of furniture! My husband and I bought a new flat screen TV and it didn't fit into our old entertainment center. We wanted something that would stand a bit taller like our old one. This one stands more at a buffet height and really makes a statement. I was also looking for something that had open shelving large enough for some decorative storage I have holding our DVD's. This shelves behind glass on this piece have the look of open shelving, but in a classy way. The stand was delivered during the holiday season last year, but was still right on time according to the delivery estimate. It was packaged well, though there was a scratch on the top due to one area of the packaging that was pretty banged up during shipping. Our TV covers this, however, and it isn't a big deal. The color is very similar to the picture - a deep warm wood tone. The middle shelves have plenty of room for a DVD player, a VHS player (yes we still have one of those), as well as our Wii console. The drawers are large enough to house the wii controllers and accessories, as well as some off-season decorations. The stand is the perfect balance for our living room in terms of size - it not overly space-consuming or bulky, however it is stately enough to work with some of the larger furniture and doesn't appear diminutive or small in scale. It also stands tall enough that we don't have to look down at the TV, as we don't have an extraordinarily large TV (only 32"). I did hours upon hours of searching for the right media stand, and overall I'm extremely pleased with this one. It took some time to assemble, however it is real wood vs. particle board and has the look of much more expensive furniture. I believe it is well worth the price and I would recommend it to anyone who is considering it.
I was looking for a taller than usual TV Stand for my new home. I liked the dark finished wood. Although I wasn't prepared to pay as much, I knew this would be a piece I would have for a long time. As most of these self assembly kits, it takes some organization to undersrand the parts. It took me a total of 3 hours to put it together by myself. I did take a couple of wrong turns, but in the end it was worth it.
Looks good. Tall like I wanted with multiple shelves and drawers. However, I am concerned that the top isn't strong enough to hold up a lighter weight and size TV (40") than was advertised for this model without dipping in the center. Because the top dips in the center, it is making the side doors scrape against the top when they open. We will live with the issue for now since we spent so much time assembling the unit.
This is very nice for the price, glass doors and real wood. I did not have a problem with a 40" flat screen tv on top, no wood sagging here. Even the shelf studs were of metals and not plastics like the other tv stands. However, I did receive the shipment with a crack on one of the sides or else it would of been "excellent"
Great value and looks nice. We use it as a tv stand for a large tv.
I bought this media stand for my family room to hold my 55 inch tv. The finish is elegant and I love the height for tv watching. Glass doors are great too.
Our 50 inch TV fits perfect and looks great.
I was looking for a very specific set of features in a TV stand. I needed something that was different than most of the TV stands out there. It had to be high to get the TV out of the reach of dogs. It had to fit into a 60" wide wall space and be able to hold a 60" Flat Screen TV. It had to have shelves behind glass doors. It needed 1 or 2 open shelves for components and/or a center speaker. It needed to look nice and be sturdy. This Stratford model fit all the criteria. It arrived in perfect condition - well packed. Good assembly directions. There's basically 2 kinds of fasteners: the standard pins with round lock mechanisms, and screws. Everything went together well and all locations of fasteners were precise, which helps greatly in ease of assembly. Note: when tapping in the pins, only drive them down until they just barely seat. If you tap them down further, the round locking mechanism cannot grip the end of the pin properly and it won't make a secure attachment. Also, GENTLY turn the round locking mechanism 1/4 turn - do not force or tighten too tight. The round locking mechanisms work OK but will break if forced. The screws are large and very sturdy, and will make for very secure attachments. Because the wood feels like softwood - not a hardwood - don't over tighten. If you follow these tips, you will end up with a very sturdy piece of furniture. I'm not one of those people who say "I put it together in 1 hour!" Instead, I take my time so that everything turns out well, the doors aren't on backwards, etc. One thing that you should know is that the dark finish is basically topical. It's not "stained" wood that penetrates the surface. It looks good, but in my opinion will be easily scratched. So I had a Glass and Mirror store cut a 1/4" sheet of glass to place in top of the console to protect the finish (edges sanded). My console was darker than all the photos I saw on the internet. Those photos made it look somewhat like cherrywood, which I liked, but the actual piece of furniture came as a dark brown. It turned out OK because it was a gift for my daughter and they really liked the color - it matched their new wood floor and brown leather furniture. The back is actually 4 pieces - kind of funky to attach because you end up attaching screws "between" adjoining pieces, except on the edges, where there are predrilled holes. But again, if you prefit everything and take care, it all works out. As in all these knockdown pieces, the backs are"OK," but kind of afterthoughts. So all-in-all, I am not disapointed at all. I got this on sale from Great Offer Stock for $***. It was well worth it and I don't think you will be disapointed should you buy it.
I have now had this tv stand for several years with a large 52 inch tv on it and it has held up beautifully. No signs of sagging whatsoever.
This unit is just right for my 50 inch TV
We ordered this item on the busiest internet shopping day of the year and it was delivered within a week. The item was delivered in one box, and well packed, everything covered with foam blocks and sheets, so it was in good condition (although I am glad I was home to accept the delivery, the company that dropped it off left it outside the vestibule of our apartment building). The wood was solid with a nice deep red-brown finish, not cheap looking, and pieces were marked with small lettered stickers for easy identification. We took inventory before starting assembly to make sure everything was there, and that we had all of our hardware (the hardware is packed in individual kits for the sections you are working on ( ie: main body, doors, top). The hardware for the slides on the drawers was already installed, and all the holes were preset, and upon assembling, everything lined up beautifully. The company gives you just enough hardware for assembly, plus an extra screw or two, and when my husband put it together, he did manage to bend one a bit, but there was an extra, so, not the end of the world, but you don't really want to go to the hardware store in the middle of assembly. Instructions were easy to read and understand, and my husband had it together in about two hours, and that was only because there are a lot of screws; once this piece is put together, it's solid, not going to get shaky or loose. The only snag we ran into were the screw holes for the magnets on the doors; the holes are pre - drilled but we didn't put one of the doors on right and so the holes were in the wrong spot. When you get toward the end, pay attention to that area, so you don't have to do it twice like we did. We were very happy we ordered a taller piece like this one, the TV sits on top at about the level you would hang a picture on the wall, and is much nicer on your neck for viewing than a shorter model. All in all, this is a very beautiful piece of furniture; to call it just a TV stand doesn't do it justice, and the quality is so much better than other items I have seen in this price range, being it is all wood, no particle boards or plastic. Even the backing is made of wood, and not cardboard, like some others.
I needed a tv stand for my condo that I rent out. I had to put this one together but it wasn't difficult. It has 2 drawers and the side doors has 2 shelves on each side. Lots of storage. Looks great and very sturdy to set the large flat screen on top.
Really nice tv stand . I love the size the quality and the extra storage u have with this tv stand . It's really hard to find tv stands that u like and that are the size u need . It's beautiful color and I love the style and the glass doors and it's nice and long it holds a large flat screen tv
I've put together many pieces of furniture in the past, and this definitely ranks up there with one of the easiest to assemble. From start to finish it took one hour and ten minutes, and I didn't rush. Each piece was expertly wrapped in foam or plastic. In fact, the most difficult step of the assembly was taking a knife and cutting the plastic wrap to get the pieces out and counting everything against the parts list. Every part was there (with one extra cam) and the finish of the cabinet was perfect. No nicks, scratches or blemishes. Directions were clearly written in English with matching detailed illustrations. Once assembled, the cabinet is very sturdy. No wobble or shake, and it can easily accommodate my 55" tv and large soundbar on top. I read through many of the other reviews before purchasing and agree with several of the comments. The color is not reddish as pictured but is a much darker brown color. That's ok, but I would have preferred the color in the picture. The only holes that were mismatched were on the four back doorskin panels. That's no problem, as new holes were easy to drill before screwing on the panels. I'm afraid if people rush their assembly and don't notice, they could accidentally split the wood. The wood by the way is stained pine, but it does look nice. Just take note that pine is very soft, so take your time in assembly to prevent splitting the wood with the screws. I had no trouble at all with inserting and locking the cams, but as I said before, I have assembled a lot of furniture with cams. Cams are notoriously easy to over-tighten in this type of assembly. One reviewer mentioned that the doors were difficult to attach. I can see how it may be confusing if you have never done it before, but if you look clearly at the illustrations provided, it makes screwing the hinges of the doors onto the cabinet very easy. One hint I could pass along is to screw in each screw a little into the pre-drilled hole and then removing before trying to screw in the hinges. You will see the holes a lot better. Also, put the cabinet together on a sunny day if possible with the front facing the sun. This makes it a lot easier to see the screw holes against the dark wood and align everything. Even at that, I had a flashlight to shine on the cabinet to see the holes that were difficult to make out. In conclusion, this is a great cabinet for a fantastic price. It is sturdy, finished well, and best of all: it isn't made of cheap particle board. The directions are detailed and easy to understand. One hour after purchasing the cabinet the item went on sale, but Overtock gave me a credit on the difference towards my next purchase. That was cool.
The look/style of this entertainment center is very nice. My whole family has commented how attractive this piece looks. The wood is much darker than appears in the online pictures, but I like it. It's a rich dark brown almost cherry-wood like color. The hardware has a nice, quality look to it. The wood used is solid, not mdf or particle board and heavy; however, the fittings used to join the pieces together during assembly and the metal tracks on the sides on the doors are not of good quality. The drawers don't stay straight on the tracks and need to be readjusted slightly every time they are opened or closed. So, I would recommend treating the doors and drawers gently. And if you have smaller children, don't let them get their favorite dvds out of it. I have a 38"x22" flat-screen that could sit on top with no weight-issues and it seems as if it would handle a larger flat-screen as well. I wouldn't recommend a heavy regular tv or other equipment as there are the two open shelves in the middle and so not much support in the middle for a heavier item.
This media stand was exactly what I was looking for to use in our log cabin vacation home. It's holding a 40 inch TV and provides tons of storage for DVD's, games and photo albums and that doesn't include the two shelves with cut outs for the satellite box, DVD player and Wii. Sturdy, nice color and didn't take long for my husband to assemble.
It's just what I was looking for in a tv stand.
I read many reviews before purchasing this product and I anticipated some challenges with the condition of the item, the materials, and that assembly could require minor alterations. I could not have been more wrong. Item was delivered on my front porch within a few days of the order, and packaging was in good condition. Color in photo is not true; Great Offer Stock shows two photos looking like cherrywood and one looking unattractive. What I got is a very dark attractive mahogany, reminds me of looking at a fancy piano. I am under five feet tall and have completed assembly aside from the two glass cabinet doors with no assistance. I chose not to use the back panels as I see no use for them. Large 50 inch TV was set atop today and there is so far zero evidence of sagging. This table is high enough that your fancy TV is safe from children and animals as I do not wish to bolt the TV to a wall. Only surprise with the cabinet is that it comes with a little cable with which you're supposed to fasten top of the cabinet to a wall to prevent it tilting and falling over. I can't see how to use this feature without damaging my home, but think it would be possible the whole kaboodle could come down if there were an earthquake.
This is an attractive TV stand but it did take me longer than I thought it should to assemble because I had a problem with one of the cams on the bottom right side. That aside, I do like it and find it the perfect viewing height for my 46" TV. It's nicely finished. There's plenty of storage and knickknack display space, and I like that there's a few inches underneath it so I can use that space to store small items. Recommended & would've given 5 stars if not for the assembly issue.
