  • Should function better
    Verified Purchase

Overall, it's very heavy and should hold your umbrella down. However the base is screwed into the stand and the screw comes undone all of the time. So it negates the heaviness of the base. It should be constructed better.

  • May Look Plain But....
    Verified Purchase

This is a heavy weight base that is completely flat so you can leave plain...people won't trip over it if you don't use it under the table. Or you can arrange pots of plants around the base for a colorful fancy look. Either way when the umbrella is in the tilted to one side position it is being held very secure by the heavy base. Good product and very happy with it.

  • Great Umbrella Base!
    Verified Purchase

I have a small café table for my patio and a market umbrella. The height of the vertical stand on other bases I've found locally is too tall for the way my small table is made. This one had the dimensions on the website and when it got here I set it up and it's perfect! It's also sleek and modern looking and very heavy to hold the umbrella in some wind!

  • Nice umbrella stand

This is a sturdy umbrella stand, although we did put bricks on the base to reinforce during strong winds. Has held up great this summer.

  • Tropism add umbrella base

Very strong. I do take umbrella down in storms or high winds. Can move it if I have to, but is heavy (50ish female). Looks good. Use it with a tropishade umbrella.

  • Poor design and packaging
    Verified Purchase

For this price, this was the best deal I could find for a flat, square umbrella base. It is nice and heavy and works. However, there is a major design flaw that no one else has mentioned. The pole that holds your umbrella pole has a plastic insert ring and a thumb screw about half way down the pole. This receptacle pole, which holds your umbrella, is about 1.75" in diameter without the plastic insert ring, and with it 1.5". Once you insert your umbrella and tighten the thumb screw, it forces the umbrella into an angled position. This receptacle pole really needs another insert ring in the bottom-inside of the pole to hold the umbrella pole centered with the plastic insert ring at the top. There was no possible way to get the umbrella straight in the receptacle pole. I went to Home Depot and found a work-around for this issue. I found a 1-1/4" EMT compression coupling that will fit inside of the receptacle-pole. I inserted one part of this coupling exactly where the thumb screw hits and threaded my umbrella pole inside. I tightened the thumb screw against the compression ring and threaded my umbrella pole inside. The rest of the compression coupling is in the bottom of the receptacle pole holding the bottom of my umbrella pole centered in the receptacle pole. The second issue I had was the packaging of the base. There is absolutely zero corner protection in the shipping box. The base is heavy so it is flung around in transit and inevitably one of the corners of my product was damaged. They really need to put some Stryofoam on the corners. The flat sides had Styrofoam, but none on the corners- go figure.

  • High quality stand
    Verified Purchase

This stand is excellent quality, nicely powder coated black steel plate. I ordered 2, shipped quickly and the price is less than half what other metal stands that I researhed. Pprimary diffence is the weight at 36 lbs vs 50 lbs or more for more expensive stands. Though 36 lbs is sufficient for most 6-9 foot umbrellas in our mild breezy weather in San Diego. I had moderate expectations when I ordered, but these far exceeded them. Finished plate dimension is 19 3/4" square.
